SEO for homepage
« on: February 08, 2017, 06:17:49 PM »
Hi,

I hope this the right place to post. I need some help with SEO please. I listened to some "5 minutes with Jack (lots actually) but I am still not sure how to do this. I can't figure out how to get my homepage to show up on google search results. Not even pages down the line.
I have the jet pack plugin on a self hosted wordpress with keywords and etc.
Can somebody explain this to me?

Thanks!!!

The only rule I know is "Don't try to trick Google or they will punish you."  But I'm new at this.  Hoping to hear some better ideas...

I am not trying to trick them just to actually list me. There are no locally grown flowers in my area. When I search for it, I get the typical flower delivery services. They are not growing locally!

I'm not in marketing, but sit nearby and overhear a bit of this stuff.

Are you search terms unique enough or are you getting buried by competition?

e.g. "discount car insurance"  is hot and will require more than SEO for your site to make the first page.

Usually effective use of search engines to drive traffic is a mix of SEO and SEM.

Also, how are you tracking/measuring this?

Just reporting back. I think I have it working. I am adding SEO keywords and descriptions to every post and page on my homepage and have noticed that the page is slowing moving up in google search results. Yay! local flowers is a tough one to crack but continuously working at it seems to do the trick! Thanks for the input.
