Title: Paid off my CC!
Post by: spooky-1 on January 07, 2010, 10:03:07 AM
I fell short of my goal last year of having paid off my credit card by 7 days. Told my self I'd do it before the year was out, but hey at least it is done now. My wife and I no longer have credit card debt, auto debt, student loan debt, we only have our home loan!

Congrats!

We'll be there in a couple months. We're using our tax return to pay off the remaining credit card, and get a gun safe.  ;D

We'll only have a home loan and an equity loan left, which will be tackled after this. Both of these have tax-deductible interest, though, so they were lowest on our pay-off priority list.

Congrats!

Wife and I just paid off CC 3 of 4 today!  Just one more CC, two student loans, and house debt to go.   ::)  Still much better off than a year ago today!

It's a good feeling. I have one left that I'll put a bullet in over the next few months.

Something clicked with my wife the other week which has made me very happy.

She realized that our credit cards have been holding us back and she's promised to pay as much as she can to help clear them.  Then we'd pay off the house and my student loans, which will take 4-5 years or so and then we'll build a home and live off-grid as much as possible.

She's really excited about building a new home and I hope she sticks to it!

I pay my full balance off every month. I only use it to buy knick knacks with over the internet when it is not safe to use my debit card or the seller doesnt have paypal.

I just paid mine off last week too!  It took me a couple of years to pay down roughly 13k.  I'm debt free except for my home loan.  It actually feels a bit weird but good!

and then that home loan starts to feel like a 20-ton weight on your shoulders as it is the only chain you have left to freedom.  We do not have CC debt, or car debt, but that home loan is a beast of a chain.  You will kick it faster once you feel the full weight of it.

My wife an I just finished paying off ours 3 days ago. We have a line of credit that will be gone in about 3 months. It feels good to be making some progress on this front after years of dicking around with it. I have to say TSP was the major motivating factor.

Ditto to that.

Congratulations, I can still remember paying our last credit card off.  Cut them up, close the accounts and never look back.  It is kind of like the first time you jump off a diving board - fear, nervousness and indecisiveness.  Then, once you jump for the first time you wonder what the big deal was.  I can't think of a negative to life without credit cards for us.

Awesome Spooky-1!!!

My husband and I are still working towards our goals of being debt free. Over the past two years we've paid off about $20,000 in credit card debt. Still have a ways to go though... and we are now down to just one car loan. It is amazing how fast we were able to get in so much debt and how long it takes to pay off but once we are there we will be done! I am so thankfull that we learned this lesson very young in life.

For all of you that are debt free, you are our motivation! For everyone still working towards their goal like we are... keep going! You can do it!

I've been on Jack's plan for over a year now.  About one month ago all I had left was 350 bucks on one card.  I was thinking to myself, I'll pay 175 this month and 175 the next, even though I had enough to pay it off.  Well, I fired up Jack's podcast and he convinced me to pay it all off right then.

I mentioned this on the front porch.  The great thing about Jack's commitment to the audience is that he helps many of us "keep our eye on the ball."  I'm so very thankful to him for helping me and others on a daily basis stay the course.
