Title: hunting books
Post by: wolffire99 on April 08, 2010, 01:03:17 PM
Does anyone have any recommendations for good hunting books that are fiction, or non-fiction books that read like fiction books.  For example Jon Krakauer (Into the Wild, Into Thin Air) is my favorite author and I love how he turns non-fictional books into page turners, is there anything like that in the hunting realm that is a "page turner" but might also teach me a thing or two at the same time?

"Stories of the Old Duck Hunters" trilogy by Gordon MacQuarrie. They are short stories mostly about duck hunting and trout fishing in Wisconsin in the 1920's - 1940's. They are the best of outdoor humor ever written (IMO) and while quite funny, they contain a wealth of knowledge and practical "how-to" info. Not at all similar to the writings of Krakauer, but I recommend them to anyone interested in the outdoors.
