An interesting new report on NPR regarding the business behind apples...  Basically it boils down to the difference between a patent and a trademark.

I was just telling my wife about starting something like this, the next big thing was even a name I dropped...so weird. Has much potential and one of the best apples that we buy here and you can't find in stores is Ambrosia, we special order 2 bushels from a farm in one of them clubs in E.WA.

No thanks. I will stick with my heritage varieties. If some have been around since the 1st century AD, they must have a proven tract record.
