Title: Rock Slide shuts down I70 in western Colorado for extended period 2/16/16
Post by: TheRetiredRancher on February 16, 2016, 03:46:00 PM
I-70 shut down indefinitely between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum, Colorado.  CDOT states that the highway is shut down both ways indefinitely,  probably "It could be a long-time closure,"   A semi was caught in the rock slide but no one was injured. The shortest detour adds about 140 miles of smaller two lane highway.

Looks like they are opening up one lane in each direction for now starting today 2/21.

That's a lot of rock and mitigation.  At least the weather has been warm and dry since this happened.  Icy roads with that detour would have been a nightmare.
