I downloaded the show to my wife's Nano the other day.  She just had music on hers previously, so when she asked me to plug hers in I saw the opportunity to get her started listening.  She's a regular listener now.

I read over the policy page and believe this will fit into the usage, if not let me know and I'll drop the upload.
For those that don't know you will need a program like "uTorrent." General practice is to upload as much you download.

I created a torrent file for episodes 54 through 63. This will allow distributed downloading and save some potential bandwith.
Included is a text file from "Disclaimers & Policies."

I meant to put this in the, Spreading The Survival Podcast Word or Guerrilla Marketing thread. Not sure how this made it's own thread.

**Topic merged to eliminate duplication.**

Just got notice the stickers are going to be printed on 10/16 and I should have them by 10/23.
Next week I will set up a thread for requesting stickers.

Here's what I've been doing.

I download the show from iTunes & after I've listened to them or downloaded them to my iPod I convert the show to a CD burnable format.  Then I burn discs of the show & leave them in strategic places at work or wherever I happen to be going.  I label the disc "The Survival Podcast", ya know, 'cause that what it is & provide a link written on the disc to Jack's website.

Supercool idea!  I've backed up all of my iTunes music on CD's but never tried it with the podcasts, now I got something to do this weekend!  I loved what Jack said about the guy at the military surplus store running it on his store sound system instead of bubble gum music.  We don't have many military surplus/camping type stores in Birmingham, AL., but we do have a lot of gas pumps, (today's price $2.99.9 and falling YEAH!) and that's where I get into most of my "grumbling about life" conversations.  A CD in a jewel case taped to a gas pump wouldn't last longer than a loaf of bread in a Miami riot!

Here's what I've done to help the show grow...  I am a big Yahoo Groups user, and own 12 different Yahoo Groups.  Most are "public" but a few are "private" special interest groups that are either cop, military or medical related (my wife's an RN NeoNatal ICU Specialist), BUT... one of the features of Yahoo Groups is you can add a tagline with a link to EVERY message that is posted, and since I discovered The Survival Podcast, I have been running a tagline and link to The Survival Podcast ON EVER MESSAGE that gets posted to all of my Yahoo Groups.  Combined that's another 740+ people who get a link to the show with every message that is sent on any of my groups every day.

Thanks for the Kudos!  You drive a Jeep?  I got 5 total in the "family" going from a "built" 1990 YJ to a 1998 TJ with a mild comb over.  Got two Grand Cherokee's in there too, a '93 and a '94 Grand Cherokee Grand Wagoneer (the V-8 "sleeper).  I plan on posting a lot to the BOV forum, so I'll wait till I get there to talk Jeeps with ya!

Dang, you're Jeep rich.

I'm driving a '97 Cherokee at the moment, I also had a '98 Cherokee for a while.  I've had CJ7's & CJ5's as well.  I love Jeeps. ;)

Very Cool and it's my pleasure. I am glad I can give back to the podcast and the community.

I am going to set up a sticky so people can request stickers.

I actually do this with anything I think needs to be heard.  You don't have to spend much money doing this, CD's & jewel cases are cheap when bought in bulk & you only need to leave a copy or two someplace once or twice a week.  I'm assuming it works since I've never run across one of my own discs when I've gone back to someplace I've left one.

DEV:  I like your idea about burning CD's of The Survival Podcast Show so much, I looked into doing the same on iTunes, but alas, I can't figure out how to load a podcast to a cd in iTunes.  Music, no problem, but I can't seem to figure out the how for a podcast.  I'm on an XP Pro machine and running the latest version (auto updates) of iTunes.  And remember I'm from the South, so type really loud and slow <grin>.  TIA!

To create an audio CD using Itunes
create a playlist
copy the podcasts you want to the playlist just created
click the burn button in the lower right corner
load a blank cd
click OK when appropiate
iTunes now burns the podcasts as CD audio files to the CD

note: CD's only hold about 70 minutes of audio data so you can only burn 2 podcasts per CD. you might be able to sneak on 3 small ones.

Thanks my friend!  Worked just like a charm.  Oh boy, now I got to find some money in the botom of "mamma's" purse to go buy a bunch of CD's.  If I get caught, I'm laying the blame for my new addiction on you!  <grin>

Sorry, I just saw this.  Archer's got it though.

The only other thing I do is convert the format using iTunes "create AAC version"  because I keep all the episodes in my music files instead of just under the Podcasts lists.

I was thinking of making a few CDs of the podcast to have laying around  8) for people to find. I thought it would be neat if there were stickers that could fit over a CD with the whole Ant/Grasshopper motif. I wonder if that is possible.

I just came up with a thought that would spread the message and be self serving.....

Burn the episodes to CD and then make enough copies to mail them anonymously to all of your neighbors. Remember to include a mailing to yourself so yuo could ask them all about it. I am sending them out to everyone in my sub-division.

Is it ok to copy or burn the archived podcasts? I want to send them to my son who is deployed overseas. I really want him to be prepared to get his life in order and start preparing when he gets back.

Its okay to, and in fact, I think it is encouraged.

I give my mom copies of episodes because she only has dial-up available.

Oh yes, I remember back during the early days, a guy said he would make copies of the podcast, and leave it on the bus, or at the library, kind of like viral marketing.  ;D
I'm sure it's cool with Jack. Anything to spread the word. Testify!

It would be nice if Jack could ring in on this.
I have the belief that the others are 100% correct but if Jack could ring in it would clear this up and I also would like to start making copies and CDs since I have all the podcasts downloaded.
I really don't feel comfortable making copies unless Jack is ok with it.
