I thought, "hum, I swear I have heard something like that before." That is what I thought when I saw the article. Of course they only give part of the picture and kind of encourage people to rush out and buy land and gold without looking at the big picture, but it is interesting to see things like this popping up in the news.

Guys like Jim Rogers and Marc Faber have been saying this sort of thing for quite a while.  Rather than a modern survivalist perspective, they are just looking at the macroeconomic picture: more and more people, shirking productive sectors, larger and larger debts, more and more printed money (inflation), and the logical result is that eventually no one will buy the debt and/or no one will accept the funny money.

Makes sense to me.
