9mm is just starting to come in around my neck of the woods (South NJ/Philly). 5.56 has been available for a while and everything else has been okay. .22 is still a bit touch and go.

I found some H4831SC for $32 at the local gun shop! I can't believe it, it's been out everywhere for quite some time. I'm with PrepperJim- I'm becoming more hopeful as things that were unattainable become more available again.

Yeah. My .223 index (1000 Rounds of .223 Ammo by Federal American Eagle - 55gr FMJ from Bulkammo.com just dropped to $799 after being dropped about a week ago to $850. Of course, it was above $1000 at one point.

I am seeing the price of 9mm drop as well. I have not systematically followed it so my on line index is not very good. I am going to hang out for a little while and plink with my .22 while the prices come down. Then I'll be ready to buy. Besides, I am so busy with work and my garden that I don't have time to go shoot the AR or 9 mm. (Bull crap...I'd go tomorrow if I could!!)

Wichita KS  gun show had a large supply of everything except 9mm.  Prices were up but there was plenty available.  Some 9mm if you were willing to pay 35.00/50 rd reloaded.  .22 was 75 a brick.  Plenty of .40, .45, and .223 available.  Sort of the end of the big gun show season in Kansas so everyone was bringing out their stash.

My local police supply store had stocked shelves. 556/223 was 50 cents a round.

everything seems to be normalizing as current over payed supplies get sold and new stuff comes in at more reasonable prices. Walmart is still hit and miss for anything other than pivari .40 JHP, and odd calibers.

My LGS had 2 boxes of winchester 333 round boxes for..........$39.99 each!  I think I can hold out a little longer.  Walmart around me is still bare except for shotgun ammo.  The LGS I mentioned above had many boxes of 40SW and lots of 45 caliber stuff, 454, 45acp, 45LC.

Yesterday I stumbled accross some ammo at Dick's Sporting Goods on the North side of Atlanta.  .308 win was $24.99/20 rds, Shotgun shells in 12 and 20 guage were $27.99/100 rds, and surprisingly 9mm was $64.99/250 rds.  Any box 50 rds or less was limit 3 on pistol ammo and any box over 100 rds was limit 1 on pistol ammo.  No limit on shotgun and rifle.  They also had some .22 rat shot and a couple 50 rd boxes of .45acp.

Haha!  I get looks of mixed pity and scorn from the dporting goods clerks when I just cruise by the wmpty shelves just in case some bullets came in. There are a coupke of boxes of ammo that have been on the shelf forever, something like .45-70 and .257 Roberts. I am half tempted to buty them just to clear the shelf!!

In central Illinois - things seem to be trickling back in.  Scheel's Sporting Goods had 100 rds 556 for $50 with a 1 box limit.  A local farm supply store had 223  25 rds for $27.   Also found some 9mm today $20 for 50rd box with a limit of 6 boxes at a different farm supply store.  No 22lr anywhere.

Around my section of N.E. Ohio you can find most, but prices are still up.  9mm and .22LR are the only exception.  There will be 12 feet of shalf space (4 shelve high) for 40S&W with a single spot aon a single shelf 3 boxes wide for 9mm and it is completely empty.  .45ACP is running $40 a box of 50.  I did buy a box of the TUla 45 in steel cases for $20 the other day, but they only had one box not a limit that was all that was on the shelf.

I am blessed with the most lovely wife ever! I am deployed right now, when I left we had a fair stock on ammo, 22LR, 9mm and .45... well my wife in her awesomeness picked up a box on 9mm and .45 on her own. I guess the local WalMart got a shipment and she just happened to be there when they were stocking the ammo cage. She informed me that she is going to keep an eye out for more whenever she is out which is very exciting.

Pretty slim at places here in Northwest Arkansas. Gun Shows still have it but places like Wal-Mart are gone as fast as it comes in. Even .22 is hard to find.

Yea, same here in WV.   I stopped posting here for awhile because it was always the same report.

Honestly, it pisses me off we can't get 22LR readily.   Damn man, can't go plink pop cans without feeling guilty about it.

Oh, side note, I was early to Walmart the other day, 6:55AM to be exact.   The employees were gathering around the sports/outdoors cash register for what I assume was a staff meeting.  I walked by and looked behind the counter, looked for unopened boxes to be shelved....nothing.   I politely asked if a truck had come in and got a snide...."we can't tell you anything until 7:00AM!"    Come on, really?!

The kid was with me so I simply said in "that" voice...."7AM, got it, THANKS!"...and walked away.   I could overhear the same lady complaining that was the worst place to have the team meeting, blah blah blah.

Went to a semi-local gun shop this past weekend. Basically a small shop. They had more ammunition on the shelf in a variety of calibers than I have seen since November 2012.

While one could not pick and choose which brand and type of ammunition in which caliber, they did have most popular pistol and rifle calibers in stock.

While I haven't been at the range as much as I'd like recently (due more to family logistics than ammo), I have not seen people shooting .22 like usual.
My theory is, a bunch of clowns are buying it and sitting on it for reasons I'm not sure of.  That means there'll be a fulcrum point, where it doesn't make sense for them to continue stockpiling.

I too am a little protective of the ammo, but I had 6 bricks of federal champion last Christmas.  Now have about 4.5 remaining.  I'll keep shooting until I'm down to maybe 2 bricks, but I don't blast away either.

Sorry brother but they sold out in literally 5 min @ like 9am.  I placed 2 orders 5min apart and 1500 orders apart based on the order numbers. One is shipped and the other backordered. I run gunbot.net  w/ configured alerts 24hrs a day.

A heads up, my backorder says it will be in stock on Friday the 24th.
That's for 1000rnd Winchester and 500rnd Remington bricks so maybe you can catch some then.  First .22lr Ive been able to purchase since last year :) and the prices are still "normal" at Cabela's.

Sure would like to know the link to the item, can't find .22 anywhere at Cabela's

One of my local stores was well stocked, except .22lr. Plenty of 5.56 and 9mm.  Cost was about .80 for m855 a bit less for the 9mm ball.  What they didnt have was powder.  I got the last 8lb tub of green dot so we can shoot skeet this summer.  That cost 70 bucks.

Interesting piece for NPR:  http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2013/05/17/184502784/why-is-there-an-ammunition-shortage-in-the-u-s?sc=tw

Quote
Sales of guns and ammunition rose after President Obama took office in 2008, and they went through the roof starting late last year, when a school shooting led to a push for new gun control measures. That's led to a prolonged ammunition shortage, even with manufacturers running at full capacity.

...

An economics textbook would say this shouldn't happen. It would say that Bob Viden, who has run the shop for almost 50 years, should respond to the increase in demand by raising prices. And some stores and online sellers have done just that. But, Viden told me, "We don't want to do that. We want to be fair."

It has gotten tight here in MN recently. We took a trip to texas over Easter. l could not believe how low the other states have it. I could have easily funded my trip by stocking up and selling along the way. I stocked up at regular pricing to above what was my old comfortable thresh hold. I can get .17 and .45 all day long, and any shotgun ammo I want. My AK47 is well fed, and prepared. I have lots of 9mm, both plinking and defensive rounds.

I do find myself shooting more shotgun and .380 this year, as it was the thew only thing that NEVER went away.

I am looking at a few guns in .45 as I can get this ammo anywhere.

Went to Cabelas Fort Worth last night.  It didn't have a ton of ammo, but there was plenty of 223, 308 and 7.62x39 steel case ammo in 20 round boxes.  They must have received a shipment.

The only rifle ammo you could buy in bulk was 30-06.  They had a fair amount of 30-06 cases.

Primers and powder were still scarce.

went into sportsmans, tons of scary black rifles on the shelf, not that many pistols (although more than last time). almost no (common caliber) ammo, only a couple boxes or primers and no powder.

so if you'd like an expensive black club...
