I think Goatdog's BOV with a hot model sprawled out on the hood would be nice, too.

I'd really love to do this, but I'd want BOL pics (not of people, but of locations) everywhere.  Pics of things people have done since starting to listen to TSP.  Or maybe an "I blame Jack for.." calendar.  hee hee hee :D

Have a photo submission contest. Anything TSP related.

Group meetings and get togethers. Cool projects. Awesome BOL's, BOV's and BOB's.

And, of course, the obligatory volunteer models sporting their TSP gear.

(Just a thought.)

Make sure to define the minimum photo size/resolution for printing purposes.

With all due respect to Goatwolf, that lady would be the beautiful Mrs. Goatie.

How about a picture of Jack in his Jetta doing the podcast. Maybe with a quote balloon out of his mouth saying "Assclowns!"

I like pictures of BOLs, BOVs, gardens, maybe stored food supplies, cut up credit cards, guns, and whole families down with prepping.

How about a skill calendar? I have been working on this idea for a little bit and have come up with a list of skills that I was planning on putting on a calendar, and making a commitment to practice each skill when it come up.

I ended up with way more than twelve skills, but you could break them down into groups, like fire starting, shelter building, trap setting, water collection / purification, etc.

You could have the picture be of a bow / drill or a flint / steel, or whatever the skill set for that month was going to be. Somewhere on the page could be a list of the different ways to start a fire, maybe even a check off list, or maybe a set of instructions for the skills.

I keep coming up with different ways to do something like this, so I have not decided the best way to do it.

It could even be a pic of something totally un-related, but still put the skill / instructions in a small box somewhere on the page, as a reminder for people to practice that skill.

OK, I will stop "thinking out loud" now. Anybody that has some ideas or suggestions please let me know in an email of pm, thanks.

Perfect! Sounds like a great idea.

This may also help in finding usable photos for the calendar. If you use multiple, smaller pictures on a single month to demonstrate a series of steps to perform a skill, then you don't have to worry so much about the size and resolution as you would with one big photo each month.

You can still have a normal picture calendar and just put a small blurb in the corner like, "Skill of the month"

So,  we could have.....

January: The Modern Survivalist Philosophy & Communicating with Non-Survivalist Loved Ones
February: Fire Starting
March: Shelter Making
April: Knot Tying
May: Square Foot Gardening
June: Food Producing Plants For The Homestead
July: Seed Saving
August: Easy Keep Homestead Animals
September: Water Filtration & Purification
October: The Homestead Gun
November: Biltong
December: Bug Out Bag Essentials

Complete with photos, how-tos (of basics), and references to specific podcasts (if applicable) that talk about these subjects.  We'd also like to include some quotes from the "I blame Jack for..." thread that HoC started as little bits of inspiration for y'all.

Sound about right?

Perfect timing!

Gardening in May

Seed saving in July

Biltong in deer season

And BOB gear in the Christmas month (for those great gift ideas!)

Sounds good to me.

Yay!  I'll start working on the photos and stuff this afternoon/evening.  Hopefully we'll get this hammered out in the next week or so.  I'd like to make it available before the end of the year.

Um... How many people are actually interested in this?  To make a quality calendar, it's going to end up costing probably $24.00 a piece for you guys.  And I REALLY don't want to be sitting here with 98 calendars that can't be sold after about March of next year.

Do you REALLY want these done?

I would love to have one but realistically this may be a better project for a 2011 target.
I expect most people stop buying calendars by about mid-February.
Like I say, I'd love to have one but I would hate to see you and TW trying to sell 2010 calendars in September.

Maybe Jack could mention it on the podcast and ask people to PM SW with intents to buy.

But the time crunch might make it too hard to do this year.

2011 sounds like a better target to me. I like starting out with the new calendar on 1/1.

Also, even though SW is a miracle worker, I am sure a couple of extra months to think about what each month should wouldn't hurt, even if nothing changed from the proposal above.

Also, $24 for a calendar sounds a little steep to me. I would be quite happy with a functional, informational calendar even if not printed on the very best paper. Maybe there is a compromise there. Highest quality content. Maybe less quality on the actual materials used.

I am sure Sister Wolf knows best.

Yeah, I agree.  $24 is INSANE for a calendar.  I've got a forum member helping me to fix that issue right now.  It'll probably have to shoot for 2011, like you guys have said, but it should be a LOT more reasonable when it comes time to actually sell them.  I just found the best supplier I could find on such short notice, and that's what I came up with.  I'll keep working on this.
