I received this set of rules from a friend in an email.
The wisdom imparted in these rules are great references to keep in mind for those Riflemen in need of a combat approach to meeting their objectives, training, and prevailing in a fight.

LOO’S RULES- (BUDs/SEAL Trainer)
Mastering war-fighting knowledge and skills should be your primary concern. Your life and the lives of your teammates depend on it.
Being #1 in anything means paying a very high price. You have to be more focused, smarter, work harder, and have more desire than anyone else.
You must be physically and mentally prepared, trained to win the gun-fight, and accomplish the mission. Your responsibility to be ready for the fight never ceases.
Talk is cheap, action is everything. Master the basics. Always have your gear complete and in order. Check and recheck your equipment.
Never make the same mistake twice; take it seriously and be hard on yourself.
Strive for perfection. You’ll never get there, but we can always do better. Identify your weak points and tackle them aggressively; make them your strong points.
You cannot be #1 without putting in extra hours. For those who want to win, there is never enough time to train.
Be a subject matter expert in your field. Strive to be the “go-to” guy for the right answer.
Train as hard and realistically as possible.
If you accomplish everything successfully, training needs to be more challenging. “Train as you fight!!”
Don’t get cocky, stay humble.
Share your ideas about improvement and take the initiative to fix things and make it right.
Research and demonstrate and unquenchable desire to know everything about your job. Study tactical material and leadership every day.
All encounters during a mission are a threat. Never drop your security and always expect contact. Winners kill, losers get killed.
Rehearse actions and know the plan.
It takes a shooter to lead a shooter.
Be openly passionate in the pursuit of excellence.
Leave all who come in contact with you a positive sense of your combat and leadership skills as well as your loyalty and tactical savvy.
Never be a loner. Never leave a teammate, rely on them and don’t let them down.
Have fun, train hard, and when the time comes- KICK ASS!!!
