Wind Turbine grid-tied. Who do you use for insurance?
« on: April 25, 2014, 05:50:16 AM »
A few years ago I was considering a wind turbine in the 20KW range. Price range was around $40K + install. Minnesota required $250K liability then. I could only find one local agent who would give me a quote. $1000 to cover the turbine against damage, including lightning strikes and $1000 for the required liability.

That's a lot of KW before you break even on an annual basis.

I am curious what you guys with a grid-tied system pay and what company you use. Size and height of the turbine and the liability you are required to have  might also be useful information.
