stainless bucket from tractor supply
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:30:28 PM »
Yeah I know it might sound really simple but I have used the 16qt one I got a few months ago for everything from brewing beer to taking out the recycling. There is no long review cause really it is just a stainless bucket. However, I figured I would point them out to those of you that might not know they are out there and that they are relatively inexpensive. Oh mine was been fine. The welds that hold the handle to the bucket seem strong and it feels solid even full of water (and honey once). They come in 16, 9 and 4qt sizes. I only have the 16 right now.

They are great buckets. I used mine to milk the cow and I cannot recall the number of times she managed to get loose and step into the bucket - ruining the milk obviously, but not the bucket. The cow is gone (sold) but not the bucket.

These pails are okay for light duty work. But I've found they don't hold up well to heavy duty and rough work. The sides are thin. The welds break. They just don't hold up. Not to mention most of them are made in China.

If you want a good quality, American made, heavy duty pail, you should be able to buy directly from PMF Industries (http://www.pmfind.com/products/stainless%20steel%20pails.asp). Best stainless pails I have ever used.

FWIW, the links are broken and the company doesn't sell direct anymore. They have several distributors they sell through now. Homesteaders Supply carries a pretty good selection:

9Qt https://www.homesteadersupply.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_73_106&products_id=623
13Qt https://www.homesteadersupply.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_73_106&products_id=12
16Qt https://www.homesteadersupply.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_73_106&products_id=13
20Qt https://www.homesteadersupply.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_73_106&products_id=14

They also have lids, pails with handles, and some with chimes on the bottom. Just watch because they also carry lighter duty ones made in India. The ones linked are made in the USA.

Also found what looks like the same pails on Amazon:
