"Best of" thread: Footwear/Foot Care when SHTF
« on: April 17, 2010, 07:02:37 AM »
A few days after SHTF, everyone will realize the importance of good footwear.

This thread describes boots and foot care: http://thesurvivalpodcast.com/forum/index.php?topic=3233.0

I highly recommend you have at least two pairs of broken-in boots and extra laces, appropriate socks, and foot care products.  Seriously.

In my opinion, combat boots have an undeserved bad reputation as being hard on your feet.  I love them and they're often cheaper than good civilian boots.  I have a pair of cold weather and water proof USAF boots and a pair of standard issue light desert Army/USMC boots.  You'll use them for 20 or 30 years so invest in them now.

Here is Swanson's primer on foot care; a must-read: http://thesurvivalpodcast.com/forum/index.php?topic=1590.0
