the tools i use the most are the main blade, saw, screwdrivers and the can opener. the little metal piece always bends on my scissors and they stop cutting right after a couple of uses.

How about the lockblade Rucksak or Outrider SAKs??
Both models are popular among the ranks of the Hoodlums.

The Trekker has a liner lock, not one of the "slide lock" switches.

I just had an evil idea, how about the Wenger Ranger series??
Just a few dollars more, has the largest saw of any SAK on the market, and you press the "cross" to unlock the blade(you won't accidentally cut your fingers)

Take a look!!

Victorinox!

I second the Trekker ( with no serrations)

Heck, it is on my shopping list anyway  ;D

Victorinox is always better than Wenger, who is the other Swiss army knife maker. That's my experience. I like having a magnifier, it's at least an option to start a fire if you have no matches. Do they make one with a magnesium striker?

I just learned that Victorinox bought Wenger in 2005, and while they are separate divisions with separate factories in separate cities, both brands are owned by the same company.

It'd be very cool if there was a trekker version with a magnesium rod, ferro rod, and so on.  There's not though.

However... I COULD make a little leather pouch for fire starting with the ferro/magnesium rods in it along with a P38 and a trekker knife.

Bartsdad - you asked about the status of these.  The status is, we're going to do them, but we need to have a bit more money in the gear shop before they're really a possibility.  Maybe toward the middle of next year (2011)?  Maybe sooner.

That's cool. I 'll hold off from procuring one from a different source at this time. It's not like I really NEED another knife.

I've never really been a SAK guy, but I've had them on the want list for awhile .

I'm not a fan of SAK's either, but the Trekker is different.  It's made of awesome.

I was in wine country recently and between my EDC knife & multitool I had no corkscrew. the Horror....the Horror
Had to find a store open late on the 4th of July and shell out $5 for one of those corkscrew/bottle opener jobs that I will never use as EDC and i don't need at home.
When you need a corkscrew, nothing else will really do that job.

My day to day life doesn't usually involve time in the field but it may include hanging out with friends and a bottle of wine. A fine opportunity to spread the TSP message.

this is the one i use while hiking. it is not one handed (i use a second one hander outside of my gear for easy access) BUT it does have 3 cutting tools. scissors, a large and a smaller blade. i carry 3 small knives but the SAK gets used 90% of the time. the hook and screw are sort of extra, but i guess could be occasionally useful.

The trekker looks good - looking forward to that becoming available.

To keep price-point right, I'd leave out extra goodies and let folks customize as they see fit.  JMHO...

For a minute there I thought you said the tsp swiss army knife was going to have a laser.   :D  It sounded like Orionblade took over your product development department

We've had a prototype made and are waiting for its shipment.  Soon as it gets here, we'll be able to make a fully informed decision.  :)

Update:

The Medical Supply Bags should be here soon, we are waiting on the Medical Patch sample for approval.

We are having a sample done on my personal Trekker to see how the logo looks on black scales. Our supplier sent us a soldier model with the TSP logo on it and it looked great, we just want to make sure it looks as good on the black scales of the Trekker.
