Ground squirrels vs tree squirrels
« on: June 21, 2010, 03:25:12 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to find out if anyone knows if there is a difference betweek ground squirrels and tree squirrels from a food aspect.  I've always kind of placed them in the same catagory as rats which, unless I'm starving, I won't eat. It's probably stupid, but that's how I think of them.  We have tons of them at the ranch, digging up everything. We've been shooting them and leaving them for the coyotes, bobcats, hawks or whatever, to eat, but if they are the same as tree squirrels for eating I'll quit wasting them.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Candy

Tree fuzzies are bigger and meatier.  Not sure if it's worth the time to clean and eat the ground fuzzies.  Maybe just once to learn how.
