He sure makes it look easy.  It would take me a long time to learn that skill.  The guy is a character, too!

Hmmm, somehow I don't think he will make it onto the cooking channel, funny guy though and he really does a great job of explaining the process.  Thanks for sharing this with us!

first time, it is hard to do ( without losin your lunch) but after that its not bad, I will tell you this, his method is a lot better than mine, also the first time you eat squirrel stew, you will never look at squirrels the same way again, ( the best meat i have ever had, you give me a choice between squirrel or grass fed fillet mignon ill take squirrel any day and i do like beef alot) ;D

His method is just a little different than mine. I'll have to try it next time.

My first time cleaning a squirrel I was only about 5 or 6, maybe 4. Dad made sure I knew how to clean one before I was old enough to shoot my own. Knowing how to clean game was a necessity at our house. We had more dinners of wild game than anything from the store. Maybe a bit odd, but I have a lot of great memories of dad, me, and my little sister outside cleaning squirrels. Sis always wanted the tails.  :D

:D Think I'll get one out of the freezer for dinner. This made me hungry for some bushytail gravy!

I love him!!!  "We's ready ta go get anuther!  HA HA!"  :D

What a great video.  I will NEVER forget that if a squirrel has big black balls with no hair on 'em, it means they're old and will be tough - but still good eatin'!  :D

I always kept the tails as well, i used the hairs from them to tie my own flies for fishing ;D

@ thezoo- My sis always had this weird thing for dead critters  :D Skulls, skeletons, hides, and tails all over the place. She must have had 40-50 squirrel tails all tied together at one time, hanging in the corner.

We used to save tails and sell them to Mepps for their lures, until the price got stupid low and we quit bothering.

I guess if they want tails they will have to raise their prices wont they, but i dont buy flies anymore but i always look for new sources of feathers and such

Mepps Squirrel tail program http://www.mepps.com/programs/squirrel-tail/

16 cents each per 100; gray, fox, and black squirrel tails. When dad and I stopped back in the early 80's, prices were almost double.

I agree, great video.  I've just put up a squirrel feeder & I'm building a squirrel nest.  Soon this will be very useful information!

I liked that so much, I've watched it a few times now.  Even showed it to my kids.  Son who's 7 watched it all the way through, but my daughter was grossed out.  Been watching squirrels out back, maybe soon I'll try getting one.

It's quite funny. So that is what they do with animals after hunting them!

Thanks for the post.  I will give his technique a try.  My little boy is quite the squirrel hunter and I have just managed to clean them all, but needed a lesson from a sure enough professional!
