Interesting.  I often run into people who believe, based on their faith, that they will be cared for and be able to survive because of their faith and how they live.  Plugging that attitude into the Stockdale Paradox suggests that they are merely being optimists and are unwilling to prepare and deal with the brutal realities all around us.  Reading this material on the Stockdale Paradox helped me to clarify the reasoning of mere optimists.

Having said that, clearly we cannot discount optimism too much; it is essential to survival.  We just need to careful to not let it prevent us from dealing with reality.

Good Post.....When sheeple tell me that their faith will provide for them I ask them if they use the same idea when driving their car???  Do they just sit there or are they willing participants?
