"The Perfect Storm Shelter"
« on: May 04, 2011, 07:26:28 PM »
I heard about this company in a non prep related newsletter. They make a storm shelter that can be assembled with a hammer, wrench and hammer drill. All it needs is a 4" concrete slab, so it should be great for those that can't have an underground shelter. It's also designed to withstand an F5 tornado and can double as a workbench. I have no affiliation with this company and haven't used their products. I just thought everyone here might find this very interesting, especially after all of the storms recently.

For the prices they're asking, plus whatever it costs to ship 1200-1500lbs, you are almost in the range of professional installed shelters - either in the garage floor type or semi buried type.

Also, you'd need to tie the slab deep into the ground or there's a strong possibility the tornado would pick up the shelter, you and the slab.

Still an interesting concept.
