Gamma lids at Home Depot
« on: August 22, 2011, 10:41:34 PM »
FYI:

I just got back from my "local" home depot. I picked up some food grade buckets, and saw they now carry Gamma lids. I paid 6.50 for one. I consider that although they may be found cheaper online, with shipping, I'm ahead. Plus, if they don't get bought, they won't carry them. I like having the convinience of having them nearby while I am putting together our food storage.

I've also noticed them at WinCo for around that price.

Thx for the info.

$6.50 is not a bad price. I get mine for $6 at SOS during their big carpark fair/sales.

Thanks for the heads up on the Gamma lids. Surprisingly the closest readiness stores to me never have any!

I only use Gamma lids on the things I'm currently working into the rotation for easy access, but i still need a few more so I'll see if our local Home Depot has them.

Thanks for the Heads up!

Thanks for posting this.  I'll have to keep an eye out for them at my local Home Depot.  I need some more, but have been putting off buying them until I had a bigger order.

What section were they in?

I have been getting 5 gallon white food grade buckets when Home Depot has them in stock lately as well. They are about $3 and have a label saying food safe. I wrote the manufacturer to verify. They said it's as the label says.  The downside is they have no lids.

hmm, I'll have to check my HD today as I need another couple of gamma lids and shipping usually kills any deals on them.  But I usually order multiple items so I can spread the S&H out.

Lowes also carries the white "food grade" buckets.  Last time I checked though, the grey buckets at Lowes were made with "virgin material" and were food grade according to the manufacturer.  So why pay more for a "white" bucket?

Besides, I like the idea of "hiding in plain sight"  I've got some preps in "new" paint cans (from lowes) just added some paint drippings down the side so it looks like there's paint in them.

Call with your local Wal-mart or Sams bakery.  They get their dough, icing, etc. in 5 gallon food grade buckets.

Last time my wife went by, she came home with 15-20 buckets; most were 5 gallon, but there were a few square and round 1-2 gallon buckets, too.
