When to butcher Muscovy ducks
« on: August 31, 2011, 08:09:09 PM »
Compatriots,

We hatched out 16 Muscovy ducklings 30 days ago.  First batch of ducks ever!  ;D   I was going to keep a few for breeding stock and butcher the rest for the freezer.  My question is this, what is the best age to butcher Muscovy ducks?  I was looking for a balance of size and meat quality.

thanks for any advice.

I don't know but you can probably feel in the breast area when they are filled out.

We butcher ours when they start to breed. They are full size and yield alot of meat. There maybe a better time to butcher but it works for us.

Approximately how many months or weeks old are they when they start to breed?
thanks
