My sweetie and I topped off her little lawnmower yesterday, 87 octane was $3.95 and it was the cheapest.  I saw a couple of gas stations this morning @ $4.07 for 87.

There is no rhyme or reason I swear...

They raise it by $2 every summer and then drop it by a buck when everyone gets angry and that always gets the rabble to shut up...

Then they do it again next year.

Sounds like a rhyme AND a reason to me LOL... Oil companies seem to make record profits every year — and yet the rabble can't figure out how???

This is from a local convenience store on the way into town. There are other places I buy fuel that are usually cheaper, but this store is the one I use as my indicator for price changes, because they waste no time in jacking up the price:

Last Thursday when I drove into town, diesel (that's all I look at because I drive a diesel vehicle) was $3.79 a gallon.

On Friday night when the husband and I went out to dinner, it had gone up to $3.89 a gallon.

On Saturday morning when I went to town for a meeting, it was $3.99 a gallon.

I fully expect to see it over $4 a gallon when I go into town again.

This should about say it all. I refilled my 20 gallon stores early last week. Obviously should have done so earlier, but I don't see the trend reversing until the end of summer.

Alaska prices don't fluctuate that dramatically.  We probably have the same pattern somewhere between the blue and red lines, but our slopes are a lot flatter.

Put on your seatbelts. It is set to go to $5 a gallon average by May. That may be Conservative, when Israel strikes Iran's nukes the price could easily double. I think I will drag out the barrels and grab my Sta-bul and head for the pump this next week. We did it right before the last spike when it went from $2 to almost double a gallon, we used it when we ran a little short or needed it for the Greenmachine (fourwheeler) or rototillers and lawnmowers and we had it to run the gennies if need be.

$3.49 right now for the cheap stuff.

Heard a report that the White House is saying there is nothing they can do about the price of oil, so stop asking.

If gas prices spike up too fast during Iran war, the Feds can simply mandate that gas prices be advertised per Liter.

November 2013:  $3.50/Liter.

This isn't the inflation you're looking for.  You may go on your way.  Move along. :P

Fortunately the site I enter my mileage on is international and calculates mpg, liters per 100km, and a half-dozen other things automatically.  I think I'd know I was being snookered pretty quick. ;)  ...not that I can do anything about it besides strive for 50mpg, but I know when I've been snookered.

Besides, there won't be a war with Iran.  There will be a peace-keeping intervention, an anti-non-confrontational humanitarian operation or a foreign high intensity iron ration exchange program, but not a war.  Wars are so 20th century. ::)

That's great news, Endurance.  Recent troubling reports from certain disreputable internet sources had me worried for awhile.  I think I'll celebrate tonight with some Victory Gin, Saccharine Tablets, and my chocolate ration.  In any case, even if we were at peace with Eurasia, I'd have full confidence in our ability to prevail.

From what I've seen, premium always stays higher than regular (duh), but the gap shrinks when there are sudden spikes.

In most cases I would say I hope your right and there isn't a war but, in this one I hope they do and get it over with. This uncertainty just give the speculators another excuse to run wild. I just wished we had done it years ago, when we had the strategic advantage of Iraqi bases and air space and Iran had a lot fewer sites that where less defended. Of course we know if this goes over and Israel does hit Iran's nukes, it is likely to escalate especially if Iran retaliates. I'd say there is a 90% chance Israel will take a swipe at Iran between now and May. Israel knows that if Iran can put a warhead on a missile , the Jewish nation has a great big bullseye on them.
