Yesterday it was $3.79 a gallon at Go-Mart here in my small town. However, 20 miles away in a bigger town it was $3.59 a gallon at an Exxon station. That's backwards from the way it usually is. This Go-Mart here in town usually has the cheapest gas around, or at least is the same as the cheap places. Exxon is usually the most expensive. Odd.

Needless to say, I filled up at Exxon.  :D

Can't you use anything in that? Even used motor oil? You can get that for free, no?

Oil touched $110 a barrel on Friday, so I wouldn't expect much relief at the pump soon.  That said, from all indications, at this point it's all a speculative bubble, not some increase in demand or reduction in supply.  The speculators are betting on worst case scenarios.  They've been wrong before (2008 run up in oil prices assuming demand would continue to rise), so I don't see it as true insider information.  Just people placing bets on the end of the world... not that any of us would ever do such a thing. ::) ;D

"Needles, CA was working to bring up that average by charging a whopping $4.999 per gallon. Hawaii motorists have also been paying well over $4 a gallon for some time now, owing to the increased cost of transportation to that state. Alaska crossed the $4-per-gallon threshold Thursday, inching up to a statewide average of $4.001 per gallon, while New York and Connecticut are also swiftly approaching the $4 mark, with gas there averaging at $3.897 and $3.89 per gallon, respectively."

No snow and the sled is not down from Alberta yet. I will start hooking the dog up the kid wagon however when we walk to town to pick up anything.

I can. I want to install the second fuel tank before I run that just in case the man stops me to check to see what I am running. That way with a 50 gal diesel tank I can at least say that the other one full of waste motor oil is just for the van heater :)

Thanks, that is what I was thinking, but then when i started driving, I had a F250 which ran on propane. And there are more wood gasifiers I am seeing, not to mention the biodiesel-fuel guys. Someone must be making it, as there are more than a couple people giving away free glycerine from it for soapmaking on CL.

I think we are seeing the affects of the devaluation of the dollar by the excessive printing the Fed has been doing. Each dollar is worth less so you need more of them ($$$) to buy the same amount of gas.

It's $1.29 per liter up here or $4.88 a US gallon.. Diesel has been that price for at least 4 months.

Last week it was $1.22 or $4.60 and it's been that for a long time.

A few months ago there was so much surplus it was sitting in tankers waiting to be refined. I smell a rat.

Glad we can't drill more in the US and haven't built a refinery in 30 years ...  *sarcasm*

I'm up about 20 or 30 cents a gallon in the last week or so.

A buddy of mine that works in the oil field business told me the other day that there are 200 wells sitting idle in eastern Ohio/ western Pennsylvania. Each well cost millions to drill and after drilling they have not run the piping in order to pump the wells. The companies have stopped drilling and I believe just sitting and waiting. He says this is one of the biggest oil fields in recent years.

Partially agree. However other things are afoot on this too.

Are those those ones they were 'fracking' and proven to be causing earthquakes? Out of curiosity Nic, is that what caused yours during your lunch?
