$2.19 + in most places here. Costco I think is $2.05 (but I have no membership there) Sam's club also has gas around $2.15 I think and I do have a membership there.

The price of gas went up 20% overnight in Mexico.  Protests are taking place in many areas.  The Tijuana border crossing was closed for a while over the weekend because of the protesters.
http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/border-baja-california/sd-me-border-gas-20170108-story.html

Quote
For the second day, demonstrators angry about Mexico’s gasoline price hike took over Tijuana’s El Chaparral Port of Entry for several hours during a peaceful if boisterous protest that ended after U.S. authorities blocked traffic to the port at the request of Mexican officials

Quote
The angry crowd at the U.S. border joined protesters across Mexico who have been speaking out since the New Year’s Day gas price increase of close to 20 percent that has come as President Enrique Peña Nieto has moved to deregulate the country’s energy industry.

One local news station is reporting that for the first time ever, gas prices at some stations in San Diego were lower than prices in TJ.  And California has some of the highest gas prices in the nation!

$2.33 at the Speedway in Port Orange, FL.
Most places are at 2.35, some up to 2.39. Lower prices for cash or store brand credit card.
Seems like it has been generally in the 2.10 to 2.20 range for several months, at least.

Gas has been creeping towards $3.00 per gallon for a while now.  Well, we've finally crossed over.  I paid $3.05 in suburban San Diego today. :(

We already pay some of the highest gas prices and car registration fees in CONUS and we are going to get hosed even more.   :-\

"California lawmakers on Thursday approved legislation to increase gasoline taxes and other transportation-related fees  to fund an ambitious $52 billion plan to repair the state's sagging infrastructure.

The measure will increase the excise tax on gasoline by 12 cents per gallon from the current $0.28 and on diesel fuel by 20 cents per gallon.

drivers will [also] have to dole out an annual fee — ranging from $25 to $175 — with their vehicle registration. These fees and taxes would increase every year with inflation."

The talk here in Louisiana is to add 17 cents to each gallon for road repair and we were taxed 23 cents a gallon already for roads. They even plan to tax aviation fuel??? Because the local government admits that they spent money foolishly in the past and MORE MONEY WOULD BE USED WISELY..
Bunch of thieves.

Now they reworded to say the 45% of the 'road repair' money will be used as 'discretionary funds' as they have to get their share for all of their hard work...it hasn't passed yet.....
