coleman lantern not too bright
« on: March 16, 2012, 07:13:12 PM »
My old coleman 2 burner lantern is just barely lit up. It has plenty of fuel but I don't know enough about them to know what's wrong. Any ideas?

are you using new mantles?
i'd also check and see if the gas jets are dirty or plugged.

Propane or liquid fuel??
If white gas...
Is the tank holding pressure??
Is the fuel cap leaking??
Is the pump pressurizing the tank??
Generator tube plugged??
Holes in mantles??

I must have about 10 of those old lanterns, and altough simple, it doesn't take alot to make them work poorly.

Took the lantern apart today and cleaned everything. Found spider webs and dirt in everything. After cleaning it is working much better although I did have flames coming out of places they shouldn't for a little while.
