Went to bass pro last night for some primers. They seemed at normal levels. Only had 5 Winchester small rifle primer boxes, though. Plenty of cci.

I like CCI because they are nickle colored  ???

RP primers were my choice as they had fewer misfires from poorly maintained weapons at the range.

I've been stocking up on 9mm FMJ $25/100 and JHP at Wal-mart $35/100.  Every time I go into Wal-Mart I check the ammo case.  I've found 22lr about 1 in 5 times and have picked up 100rd CCI on occassion,  and my latest find was a 1400rd plastic bucket of remington for $75.  5.3 cents per round!

For some reason they always ask wether it is for rifles or handguns.  I always tell them rifle.

That is a good price for some plinking ammo; often they ask on the ammo for rifle or handguns is you have to be 21 to own a pistol and I believe the same holds true on the ammo.

Took the Kids by Bass Pro last night for some time to check out the animals and fish (a family favorite when we drive by) and the ammo shelves are starting to look a bit more holey than normal. Plenty of .223. Some handgun calibres had gaps where 100 packs were on sale. All the steel case stuff was in good supply as were the bulk packs and shotgun shells. Heard one guy asking for some 357 that was on sale and the clerk said, "well it's getting more picked over these days." But he got one box.

I can't help but wonder if the demand will slack off a bit now that the election is over and gun owners feel less threatened.

I think buying picked up prior to the election in anticipation of Clinton winning and everyone going ape again. Hopefully things will finally settle down. A few days ago I was able to buy some bulk .22 that I had not seen for a few years.

I saw bricks of .22 at Frontier Tactical (Lee's Summit, MO) priced at $45.  Yikes! Still way too high!

How many in a brick?
Bass Pro sells a bucket of 1400 22lr for around $82.
That's a little less than 6 cents a bullet.

Back in 2009 I would buy the 525 Bricks of Federal Champion for $14.99 or less.

We have pretty much everything up here, but .22 LR does seem to be about 30-40% higher than it was a few years ago. I`m not sure how much that has to do with our weak dollar (which might account for most of that) versus how the price settled down to a bit above pre-Sandy Hook prices.

Assuming the supply of .22lr originates in the USA, I can tell you that it's settled about 20-30% more expensive than pre-SandyHook.

More specifically the packaging has changed, perhaps as a way to deceived shoppers.
e.g. in 2012 a 525 brick of Federal was $15-20 any day of the week at Wal-Mart or various outdoor stores.
Today you can get a 325 round brick for about $20USD if you are lucky.

So take that ~30% markup in the USA and then apply whatever FX conversion to CDN.

Plenty of ammo anywhere in Missouri. In stores anywhere, and especially online like Midway.
Higher prices, yes.
