Just call me Mule

« on: March 19, 2009, 01:51:49 AM »

via NRA-ILA (http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/NewsReleases.aspx?ID=12245) via Snowflakes in Hell (http://www.snowflakesinhell.com/2009/03/18/congressional-dems-oppose-awb-in-letter/):

Today in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, 65 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR), expressed their opposition to the reinstatement of the failed 1994 ban on semi-automatic firearms and ammunition magazines. These congressmen cited numerous studies that proved the 1994 ban was ineffective, and they strongly urged Attorney General Holder to stop his effort and instead focus on the enforcement of existing gun laws.

NRA would like to thank Congressman Ross for his leadership on this effort. We will continue to work with Members of Congress from both parties on this important issue.

Below is a list of the signing Democrats along with their phone numbers which I retrieved off of the Clerk's Office. I think it'd be prudent to reward good behavior and call those Reps in your state to show your appreciation for their support of our 2nd Amendment Rights:

However, don't let this lull you into a false sense of security. We're only 58 days into this administration and we've already seen the rhetoric ramp and back door attempts at gun control through the ammunition supply chain. As the saying goes, the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

In addition to the literal translation of the Spanish word “buho”, which means “owl”, it also has a colloquial meaning, being used to denote a hermit or a loner. Totally works.
That's one pretty eggroll you have there, mr. blank! Cheesy

Opposed to another assault weapons ban? What did the letter say?

The Dems don't want ot mess it this issue at this moment. They're fisting us in too many other ways at the moment, and this is a hot button issue with the blue collar types. For the same reason you won't see them messing with any abortion issues at the moment. After they pass the current destructive agenda, these things will come back.

I notice a distinct lack of representation from Missouri on that list.

Wish I was surprised, but I guess I'll fire off a couple of emails.

Chris we have got to stop this shit, seriously.  Dems hate gun people, only republicans don't Neanderthal nonsense.  If the second amendment is important to you you have to research the person, their record, etc, not rely on the stupid and often meaningless initial after their name.

Case in point the first guy on the list with an evil "D" (I guess it means demon gun hater) after his name, Autur Davis, here is what one finds out if you search "Artur Davis NRA".

From the NRA Political Victory Website,

"Freshman Democrat Artur Davis from Birmingham is co-sponsoring a bill that NRA has labeled its top legislative priority for the year. The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act would insulate gun manufacturers from liability when their products are misused. "

That is not avoiding the issue.  Again there is a big difference between a rural democrat from the south and a democrat from Austin, Atlanta, Detroit or Chicago.  Then there are the four republicans that sponsored the damn bill in the first place, what good did the "R" after their names do us.

Seriously spend a few bucks, call the entire list and just say thank, it was a fun experience for me.

Now to be fair Davis has set his sites on becoming Governor of Alabama.  He has zero chance of that unless he stays at least in the realm of "enforcing the laws on the books" where the 2nd amendment is concerned.

However, I don't care if our elected officials vote the right way because they feel they should or because they are afraid of the people they serve.  Either reason is fine so long as they follow the constitution and listen to the will of the people.  I have had plenty of employees that needed to occasionally be motivated by fear of loss, those folks were generally damn stellar in their performance after a trip to the wood shed or two!

I've been emailing a couple of these reps each week to let them know their efforts are appreciated and noticed.

Hopefully this spells good news for gun owners, but most likely we're going to just see the anti-gun stuff slipped into other bills.

The only problem with supporting a pro-gun dem, is that they can (and are) giving the anti-gun dems the majority.   With their current 79 seat advantage (best I could tell), and a few RINO's, these 65 are not going to cut it..
