Inventory Application for Preppers
« on: December 14, 2013, 10:09:23 PM »
Not sure if this has been covered before?

Is anyone using a inventory program for your preps?  If so what are you using and how is it working out?  I need to tackle the inventory on my preps.

A friend wrote an inventory app for preps, but it's not easy to use.

I like the Prep and Pantry App.  It's cloud based not what I prefer, but I can export a report into a spreadsheet.

So I looking for some feedback on what others are using.

Thank You.

I was concerned of an Inventory Ap I had downloaded onto the phone after I put a few items in, so I contacted the people who made it. They sent me a couple emails back and forth. Nice people, but they only made my concern worse. I was just now looking for the emails and so far have failed to find them, but in a nutshell, I asked them how secure the program was (this was pre-Snowden days). They said there was no way to save your data without putting it on the 'cloud', not even your own computer and they said that they could not guarentee that it was 100% safe from other people's eyes. That is when I pulled the Ap off my phone, thankful that I did not use it, other than to scan in about 4 items and did not put the amounts.

So just letting you be aware of what my experience of one of these kind of Aps are. They are definately not OPSEC.

Has anyone had any experience with these guys?

They claim to be bar code enabled, has recipe calculations and such.

If it performs as advertised I should think it pretty useful.

Anyone ever used it?

Oh...hey.  Heavy G?  I found it on 299 Days webpage.  What do you think?

I used Prep and Pantry for a little while but for concerns like Cedar stated I stopped using it.

Thank you for your responses.

I don't like the Cloud based issue with some Apps.

Thank You Chemsoldier concerning the link to 419systems.com.  Their app looks promising.  It goes well beyond inventory functions and it's portable.  You can run it from a thumb drive.

I am considering purchasing the app?

Update after much debate I did purchase SurvivalStores from 419systems.com
Thank You much to Chemsoldier for the link.

I have been using for a few days.  I am very pleased.  It's the best inventory app I have seen created for prepping and survival.
I am running the app on a thumb drive, and switch between PCs.  The entire DB is local.
