Show us your preps
« on: April 18, 2009, 08:55:26 PM »
This idea was taken from another forum.
I only post this with a newfound "come and take it" mentality.

I am not the type of guy who will shoot anyone for coming over after SHTF. I want my friends here, they all work hard, will bring more preps, and can shoot if need be.
The wife and I will be buying a house in the next few months, so there will be a dedicated preps room.

It took awhile. And my tuna army was 120 cans strong at one point (In anyone remembers the Target coupon fisaco, where a person could purchase a can of starkist for $0.09 a can with no limit)

Dont let me forget to give you some O2 absorbers for that Mylar I gave you.

Vino? Do you mean wine?
I just started brewing, and have only made two batches. Most of which has been given away ... or distilled  ;)
After I move, a batch of blackberry mead and blackberry wine will be filling two 5gal carboys (Thanks to Jack for giving me yet another hobby)

Not SPAM, just normal corned beef. I think I was paying just over $2 a can at Winco (Ghetto but cheap grocery store)

They do make a bunch of flavors www.spam.com
Some that are not listed, like the Korean cheese flavor.

Lovin that basement

Thanks, but that is actually our coal room.  We live in a very large, somewhat unconventional residence, built in 1903.  It had a very large coal furnace at one point many years ago.  When we cleaned it out, there were still several buckets worth of coal in the corners.  If you look at the top right of the photo, there is a sliver of light.  That is an external coal chute door.

We are very fortunate to have lots of space to store items, but that often leads to me forgetting what I have since I don't see it on a regular basis.   ;D

Do you get any critters coming in through the coal chute?

Oddly enough, no.  Haven't had a water issue either.  The chute doors are welded secure, but that one just didn't fit right I guess.  I have been after my husband to seal it off with something, but he hasn't gotten there yet.   ::)

I remember that one quite fondly. That was before I got into true prepping, but I still ended up with about 90 cans for our family of two (have since added two more). If I had been thinking in prepping terms I would have bought twice as much.

Target coupons could be quite fun. I still get that tingling feeling up my leg thinking about the Target coupon for the free 20oz. Coke product. That one kept me in sodas for a long time.  ;D
