WOW! Primers going for a mint on Gun Broker
« on: April 17, 2009, 07:00:01 PM »
Box of 1000 Federal Primers for $84!?

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=127132997

Bought a box a couple days ago for $35 and I thought I was getting raped. Guess I need to start buying more primers and selling them online hehe.

This week I paid over $12 for two 100-round boxes of primers.  I have observed that many of the gun stores are rationing a max of 200 primers per sale.

Where are you finding them?  We can't find any, anywhere locally or online.  50,000 bullets and no primers sucks!

Paying that much for primers still makes it cheaper to roll 1000 rds of my own .44 Mag than it does to buy it.

Around here the only component available is powder.  Bullets, primers, brass... All of them have dried up.  It was 2008 the last time my local shop had primers.

We can get bullets, powder and we pick up all our brass.  Large pistol primers are starting to show themselves rarely.

Just paid $63.18 ordering a box of 1000 primers from Cabelas. They are on back order for a few weeks. I couldn't afford Gun Broker and felt I needed to get those sooner than later.

Primers are still a no-show around my way. (NW Houston). However, I was up in St. Louis over the 4th of July and went to Graf's in St. Charles. Oodles of primers and just about everything else. Stocked up on 2700 bullets (.224" and 45cal mix) and then shipped them all back home to Houston. 47lbs of bullets! I'm set for the next half-year hehe!

I would avoid Gun Broker as their prices are outrageous. Just had my shipment ship out after three weeks of waiting for small pistol primers at Cabelas.

I regrettably placed an order for Large Pistol Primers from PowderValley Inc that was in stock.

They never answer the phone on their 800 number and I only received an automatic reply message with an order number.  ???

However, I have not been charged but the company has not returned my two emails in the past five days. It's fair to say I won't be ordering from them in the future.  :-\
