Just an FYI from my local club

On the weekend of May 9th and 10th, the United States Military will conduct its annual Armed Forces Day Crossband Military/Amateur Radio Communications Test.  If you are a stickler for details, you will note that Armed Forces Day is actually the following weekend but the test is held the weekend before because so many hams are at the Dayton Hamvention on the weekend of the 16-17th.

Attached is all the information that you will need in order to participate.  In short, you listen on a military frequency but transmit on an amateur frequency (and vice versa for the military stations), hence, the "crossband" communication.  It is a lot of fun and they send out some nice QSL cards.
