Oregano is supposed to be really good as well.

I have used oregano oil in the past, and it's really very effective.

My oldest son was sick a few years ago and didn't have insurance (as usual).  I told him to take some, and he snickered, but he did.  The next day, he was back at the house, asking for more of "that witch doctor stuff" because it worked so well.

I'm fine with oregano, but I had a bad experience with amoxicillin a couple of years ago.  It was after I got laid off but before I got my current job.  I was watching three of Jay's grandsons (involuntarily) for three days and ended up sick as a dog.  Even the oregano oil didn't help, and whatever I had moved into my lungs and wasn't going away.  Meanwhile, I'm trying to get a job and can't exactly interview while I'm hacking up a lung.  I was desperate and broke, so I took amoxicillin that I got from someplace other than a doctor.   ;)

Yeah, it's more than two years later and I'm still dealing with the after effects.  It completely wiped out the majority of both the good and bad bacteria in my gut.  I supplement every single day with a good probiotic, and it helps a lot, but it's still not anywhere close to being back to the way it was before.  And that's a big deal, especially for women (not going into details, thankyouverymuch).  So use amoxicillin with caution.
