Artificial trans fat will be removed from the U.S. food supply over the next three years. There’s no longer a scientific consensus that partially hydrogenated oils, the main source of trans fat, are generally recognized as safe, according to a final decision released Tuesday by the Food and Drug Administration. So much for FDA's “Generally Recognized as Safe”.

7 Foods That Won’t Be the Same If Trans Fats Are Banned
http://healthland.time.com/2013/11/07/7-foods-that-wont-be-the-same-if-trans-fats-are-banned/

HOW ABOUT THEY WON'T BE THE SAME, BUT HEALTHIER AND YOU WON'T EVEN NOTICE?

1. Doughnuts:
Glazed Pumpkin Donuts
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup pumpkin puree
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, softened

    Glaze:
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Stir all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, salt, and baking soda together in a bowl; add pumpkin puree, eggs, milk, and softened butter. Beat mixture with an electric hand mixer on low speed until combined into a batter; spoon into a donut pan. Bake in preheated oven until donuts spring back when touched, 8 to 10 minutes. Beat confectioners' sugar, melted butter, water, and vanilla extract together in a bowl until smooth. Dip warm donuts into the glaze and let any excess glaze drip back into bowl before placing glazed donut on prepared baking sheet to cool.

2. Crackers: Trans fats may be replaced by soy bean oil or canola oil (which would be GMO).
So make your own http://www.washingtonpost.com/pb/recipes/everona-market-crackers/13322/

3. Movie Theater and Microwaveable Popcorn:
3 minutes in the microwave, or 3 minutes or less in one of these which I use often

4. Frozen Pizza: Any frozen food with many ingredients can contain trans fats
We make our own all the time

5. Coffee Creamers:
Have you read the ingredient list on this? Yuckyuck yuck yuck..... ewwwwwww

6. Refrigerated Dough Products:
My friend makes and freezes uncooked dough products for quick meals all the time.

7. Canned Frosting: The trans fats may be substituted with lard or vegetable oils.
So? http://empoweredsustenance.com/lard-is-healthy/
I hate those frostings on commercial cakes too... ugh.

Tootsie Rolls will go back to becoming stale in months rather than years, again.  Yay!  I like 'em a little crunchy on the outside and still soft on the inside, but I suspect I'm not normal.

From the Bloomburg article:

“I don’t know how many lives will be saved, but probably in the thousands per year when all the companies are in compliance,” said Michael Jacobson, executive director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Always a good sign when someone who is suppose to be an expert on the issue starts off their statement with, "I don't know..." and includes a probably in the middle.

Massive image. Click with caution. (Nothing but a joke image. Totally safe as far as content, just really huge.)
