Sepp Holzer "rebel farmer" and his conflicts with the government
« on: February 07, 2016, 05:15:05 PM »
I have read in a number of places that Sepp Holzer has been fined and threatened with jail even for his refusal to comply with agricultural laws and such. I have not been able to find much details on this. I am interested in any similar types of stories as I am trying to prepare a toastmasters speech. I would like to get specific details or terms that would be good to google search for

I know it is said that Sepp Holzer built ponds without permission and claimed they where ponds already though I don't quite get how he could have easily argued that if there was nothing like a similar pond there before.

In other places it seems to say he grew fruit trees where they should not be able to be grown but it seemed to imply that the government in Austria or Europe forbids growing fruit trees outside where they should be able to grow or that planting fruit trees in an alpine area would be illegal ? I have never seen any clarification on that. It seems it is also implied he broke laws by not pruning his trees ? This I don't get quite

Any obvious types of similar things that are easy to explain that governments clearly do to make permaculture type farming difficult I would be interested in. There are stories about the control of seeds, but it sounds a little tin foil and not easy to ascertain if it is a real threat or not such as this:

" Put simply, the regulation will make it mandatory for all member states to enforce as law the restriction of sale and use of any seeds which have not been registered with and approved by the European Union"

Here are a few for you:

He has been sued more times more times than any farmer in Austria

You can email him actually. Sepp Holzer is not able to read e-mails in English language. Therefore translate your e-mail to German language,
