Fire extinguisher?
« on: March 13, 2018, 01:34:24 PM »
After being witness to an accident that included a car in flames, I realized I don't have fire extinguishers in our vehicles. So, I'm looking for suggestions of a compact device to keep in the cars.  Thanks.

I keep a full sized one in my vehicles. Had to use it twice in 15-18  yrs. Grass fire and under a hood. I know i would not have wanted a smaller one. Make sure to shake them periodically.

Secure it well. In an accident it can travel.
I second the recommendation to get something larger.

yep! over here 2 kilos is the regulated for passenger cars.
Used to be 3 kilos.
BUT these things empty in a Few Seconds...See YT videos to be amazed!
So I guess size also follows experience and technique.

Two is one....

I have a small one under the driver's seat and a big one in the trunk/toolbox.  I have seen dash fires, I want access to an extinguisher from the driver's seat.

Never used one from a vehicle myself,  but tossed the one from under my seat to a guy who had the start of an engine fire. I was two lanes over in heavy traffic at a light and couldn't stop without making a bigger mess.  There weren't char marks on the pavement the next day, so it must have worked.
