This had never occurred to me, but I found out today that a neighbor has had one for years, she has harvested and roasted the beans, made her own coffee. Right now her plant has outgrown her ceilings(10ft), and she has sold it to someone else, and is going to keep her replacement coffee bush pruned, she hopes to hold it to 6 ft. She says it is easy care, not fussy about temperature, but has to be inside, too cold outside in the winter and in the summer, too easy for sunburn. There was a picture, pretty houseplant. Her coffee bush is not in the warmer area of the house in winter, she says, in a back room, so above 40 ? , but not "room temp". She says the plant was 6" tall when she got it, and the first while it lived in the bathroom with heat and humidity.
So, there is a prep for you, if you were going to have a spot for a large houseplant. Our latitude is SanFrancisco CA latitude, I do not know if/how they grow further north. They like light, but not direct light.
