Article on the Congressional Baseball Shooting
« on: May 15, 2018, 03:22:06 PM »
A lengthy article on the Congressional Baseball Shooting that wounded a number of Republican politicians and others including a Capital Police Officer.  Some interesting lessons learned that can be taken out of it.

Some take aways:
1. A purpose built TQ (CAT) was deployed early, used on Rep. Scalise's wounded leg where it completely stopped the bleeding.
2. Another Representative who was also a GWOT veteran and medical doctor reached Scalise quickly and was able to start rending aid.
3. The capital police definitely provided a distraction from killing the intended target once they engaged.
4.  An aggressive Alexandria police response including patrol rifles finished the fight.
5.  The targets were at particular risk, dressed out for the practice many didn't even have cell phones, which were locked in their cars.  Some wish the law had allowed them to have handguns but some even admitted they would have been in their cars.  There are vulnerable points in anyone's life.
