It was built as a Walmart exclusive and it has 5 Watts, Simplex only, and covers GMRS channels 1-7 & 15-22.

It comes with a tiny mag Mount antenna and has a standard pl-259 so you can install something more substantial (base or mobile).

I found 4 locally, they were marked $25/ea. they are now at my house  ;)

Hope this helps someone-it's an interesting little low-cost comms stop-gap.

*I personally don't care that your Baofeng will do this and more-it won't legally, and I'm "That Guy".

I own one and like it.

When I first became interested in the CH3 project (later rolled into AMRRON) I became intrigued.  Later, one of my kids had a friend down the street and I got them FRS radios to talk back and forth on the condition that they use them responsibly and got enough that there were two radios at each house.  I bought the Midland mobile and put it on the ham stand with the idea that I could make it the hub of a network of non-licensed users.  It never really evolved, but I dont regret getting the radios.

I recommend it.  Stick the antenna on top of a little bit of elevation and get it outside your house or car and it is much better than the handheld.

It appears to have an external so-239 (UHF) jack, so one could improve the antenna considerably if desired.

Useful radio at a great price....better quality receiver than many China Radios....good choice for small local group comms.

Great price, and there are still a few at a Walmart I drive past all the time.  Thanks, SCW.

Durn it.  You had me convinced!  My wife and I just went on safari to the Walmart wilderness in search of the 3 they allegedly had in stock, but they sadly were nowhere to be found after a 45-minute hunt.

Thanks for that BrickSeek link, though -- that'll be useful even if it's not always accurate.

I feel your pain!  I had to make 2 trips, the 2nd time I printed the UPC Bar Code on paper and walked around looking for someone to help me.
