Staying in wallmart parking lots with RV
« on: July 05, 2018, 07:36:51 AM »
This is an interesting site for finding information on wallmarts were you can stay in the parking lot. It seems to be mainly from reviews other people have left. The website has lots of other info and areas I have not explored

https://www.allstays.com/c/wal-mart-locations.htm

I got up at 3:00 to go surfing this 4th of July and to get to the beach early and get a parking space. A guy there told me all the people from Canada stay in the parking lot in Portsmouth NH. Of course I have heard of that sort of thing and had thought about it but that just got me more interested

They didn't mention some of the ettiquette:

  • park around the edges or back of the lot
  • no generators
  • keep slides in
  • keep jacks retracted
  • keep everything inside the camper
  • and of course buy something you need from WM while you camp there

Strap it to the roof with bungy cords while parked ? Roof is 10 feet off the ground

*Most* welcome semi parking. I've spent many nights in their lots. Usually tried to stay in the back, out of the receiving docks way.
And I shopped there, which I kept food in the truck.

Keep in mind that some Walmarts don't allow overnight parking.  It is usually because of local laws, not the Walmart rules.

We've done this for years when we are just passing through areas, and don't necessarily need to "camp".
I've never been addressed or seen any signs about having the slide out, and have never had any problems with it, as long as we keep to a somewhat back corner of the parking lot.
You can also do this at any Camping World store's parking lots overnight.
They are both a great option for long road trips. I'm not sure on this... but being that Sam's Club is owned by the same company as Walmart, it may be an option there also.  May be worth checking out.

I've parked there overnight also. Of course, we delivered there also.
