Unique Automated Watering System with Video
« on: June 19, 2019, 10:11:14 AM »
OK it will be hard to explain how this works in English but i will try.

this is a DIY watering system that allows
- self-timing by the flow of water
- and watering by a given amount of water the size of your tank

It relies in the Pythagorean Cup principle

Here is the built video

So what this guy did was to place two water filling systems.
1. A faucet dripping water -Slow Feed- , with a flow -calculated by trial and error- that fills the container in the meantime between waterings.
2. A Fast Feed device, a toilet float, that is placed the wrong way around.

The system works as this:
The dripping slowly fills the tank. The upside-down float is unaffected and remains off. When water level raises the float from its rest (off) position, the float will suddenly give lots of water triggering the Pythagoras Cup principle and now the tank empties itself.

Construction details. The outlet hose should reach the bottom of the tan and the water float should raise the water level above the outlet hose height.

how's that for Greek redneck ingenuity?  ;D

PS, if you have seen this method in a English speaking video, please tell me so, it make this post more helpful.
