House Democrats Propose Bill to Ban Most Firearms in US
« on: August 14, 2019, 11:16:53 AM »
With a stated purpose "to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited", 200 Democrats in House entered a bill to ban most firearms in country.  Pretty much all semiautomatic firearms can be classified as "assault weapons" or have "large capacity ammunition feeding device" given way language is written.  See here:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/1296/text?r=21&s=1

The term ‘semiautomatic assault weapon’ means any of the following, regardless of country of manufacture or caliber of ammunition accepted:

“(A) A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

“(i) A pistol grip.

“(ii) A forward grip.

“(C) Any part, combination of parts, component, device, attachment, or accessory that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun.

“(D) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:

“(i) A threaded barrel.

Assault weapons ban picks up steam in Congress

And nearly 200 House Democrats have now signed on to legislation - authored by Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), the head of Democrats' messaging operation - banning semi-automatic firearms and large-capacity magazines. With 198 co-sponsors, the bill is just 20 votes shy of the number needed to push it through the lower chamber.

California can’t even pull off that kind of ban.

Neither can Congressional Democrats.  A proposal like that is for political showmanship.

That list is just the tip of the iceburgh.  They were very devious in the wording to make it as expansive as possible.  For example any pistol which has a full auto version would be banned.  So no glocks, walthers, rugers...  And any mag fed semi-auto rifle which has the capacity to be fitted with any of the following would be banned: pistol grip, forward grip, folding/telescoping/detachable stock, grenade launcher, barrel shroud, threaded barrel.

And they are threatening the supreme court too:

They've had 25 years  to study all the work-arounds to the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban.

And. . .they're highly motivated.

This thread shows just how uninformed the pro-banners are on simple firearm types and designs:

https://twitter.com/shannonrwatts/status/1162448829108674560?s=19

That's right, militaries around the world are waging wars with pink-stocked Ruger 10-22s.

Here is the original story with actual quote:

https://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/2019/08/16/heres-what-the-nras-marion-hammer-had-to-say-about-floridas-proposed-assault-weapons-ban/
Here’s what the NRA’s Marion Hammer had to say about Florida’s proposed assault weapons ban.

“How do you tell a 10-year-old little girl who got a Ruger 10/22 with a pink stock for her birthday that her rifle is an assault weapon and she has to turn it over to government or be arrested for felony possession?” she said.

If you look at the responses, they center around the fact that the uninformed have been trained to fear and "trigger" (pardon the pun) over two words: "Assault Weapon."  The left has created a certfied "Boogey (boogie?) Man."   Moreover, they've conditioned the willfully ignorant not only to accept their own ignorance, but be proud of it.  For many, emotional comfort is the primary drive, now (Happiness and Comfort are Basic Human Rights!).

I've given up on getting angry, feeling pity or even exasperation over these people.  They are The Lost.  They are now nothing more than a thing of nature like rain, snow or hot days.  I can beg, plead, cajole, yell and even argue with them, but their conditioning is so embedded in their collective psyche, that I may as well be deriding the nail that punctured my tire.  I can only prepare and plan for that time when the opinions of The Lost rain down like a storm from a cold front approaching my home.  No amount of logic, proof or persuasion is going to affect them any more than my trying to point out that I don't need the extra rain in my front yard from the dark cloud above.

I have tried in my 40+  years as an adult to convert or convince some about Reality, but they're like many diabetics. . .they know in their brain that the giant Snickers bars at the grocery store will most likely lead to the removal of a foot, but they just can't ignore their cravings for that chocolatey, nutty, caramely comfort.  And then, as they're hobbling along on their new prosthetic foot, they refuse to accept that it was their fault and blame the Snickers bar (for containing the sugar), the company that made it (for making the packaging so damned attractive), the convenience store that sold it (for being just too darned convenient) and even a supersecret cabal of Illuminati (for masterminding the sugary enslavement of the Human Race by coordinating all of the above) for their plight.  It certainly wasn't THEIR fault, they just wanted a taste.

These are the people who are voting.  They just want comfort.  They WANT to be the 47-year-old virgin virgin around in his/her/Zis/Hirs/Eirs/Vers/Ters, Eirsbeige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener".

The world is turning into an Idiocratic version of Raymond Cocteau's Fantasy Society.

I'm gonna go eat a freakin' Snickers.
