Put a ruger 10/22 on layaway,
Also picked up 300 rnds 5.56 ammo and some quick clot for my bob

I received my Theis IWB holster and new belt today. Awesome. It feels so good on my belt. Of course, the gun is digging into my fat roll, but it is just about as comfortable as I can expect. After all, someone wrote here "a carry gun is supposed to give comfort, not be comfortable". I can draw and reholster with one hand. With my shirt untucked, no one in hell is going to know I'm carrying unless they give me a hug. I can probably tuck, but it is noticeable. I am so glad that men's fashion in Houston is going to untucked shirts.

I am taking two days off from work (I've earned it) mainly so I can prep in the wake of the election results. I am going to get the oil and transmission fluid changed in my car, check out that storage place for extra preps and then go get that AR-15 and high capacity magazines tomorrow. "Obama made me do it" - at least that is what I am going to tell my wife.

I re-re-re mounted the scope on my 10/22 and the lock-tight needs to dry another 24 hours so I will be going to the range on Friday to shoot. No guilt since the wife is working. Maybe, just maybe I can hit something this time.

Pulled weeds in SFG and noted a cabbage plant completely chewed in half. I knew it was a rabbit by the calling card it left. (pile of poop). So now Iam going to spread chicken wire around my SFG beds. Thought hard about how I need to get my butt in gear and keep building preps.

4 weeks ago I made my first batch of Fire Cider. This has garlic, horseradish, onions, ginger and cayene pepper steeped for 4 weeks in apple cider vinegar. Then strained and honey added to taste.

This is good to boost your immune system and wards off sinus infections which I get a lot of.

Last week I felt like I was getting sick so I started taking a large tablespoon 3 times per day and within 24 hours I felt better. Everyone around me is coughing and snotting so I am doubling the dose. It tastes very good.

So today I started 4 more quarts.

Presents for my adult children this holiday.

Oooh, that sounds so good right now! I'm not sick, but I was outside tonight for a couple hours and got chilled. But as it stands, I will have to be content with a cup of herbal tea and the knowledge that in a few weeks I'll have my own Fire Cider.

And if all else fails, at least you can drink your problems away...

I landed an interview for a job with a 50% pay increase tomorrow after I got angry enough to blast out resumes when the dirtbag company I work for took away our health insurance to replace our policies with some High Deductible plan that doesn't cover ANYTHING unless we shell out $5,000 of our own money FIRST during the year (on top of the $300/mo in premiums we pay) — and even IF we pay more than $5K in medical bills on top of our premiums the insurance only kicks in 80% after the deductible — so that million dollar surgery will only leave me with $200,000 in debt.

Hopefully I will have a new job with a RAISE before I even have to decide whether to sign onto this BS health plan or go outside the company to shop for REAL health insurance.

Been using preps more that prepping.
Still no power. But I am keeping a running list of things to replenish and things to get.

I did order an adapter to fill 1 lb propane cylinders from a 20 lb tank.
I have been using my heater buddy and will refill the tanks.
Also while i was running errands. Stopped by Target and picked up an Emerson Ice Maker which was on sale for 129.
So far, so good.

That's about it for now.

got our generators off our BOL across our swollen "creek" that is now a full blown river, DH was convinced we were to be swept away but we made it across.. and i feel better now that we have them back at home base.. going over to in-laws later to decide on a good place to build a winter goat corrall..

I took the leap and purchased an AR-15 today (M&P15 Optics Ready) for $900 at Academy. Five Magazines, some ammo a case. The wife was working from home today and saw me bring the box in (I told her what I was going to do). She did not say a word. I promised her I would get an outside storage place which is exactly what I will do tomorrow.

I took it in the back, field stripped following the directions and removed the bolt. I will store disassembled and keep the bolt at home.

Optics....hmmmmm....?

Re-packed and winterized my get home bag. Added an emergency contact list, list of medications and photocopies of all my wallet "plastic" to the documentation binder in our bug out bags. I also uploaded those .txt filles to my encrypted, online storage account.

Just bought a POE router - that's power over Ethernet. This will go hand in hand with my new IP camera that I bought late last month. Mostly this is a science experiment that I can afford to tinker with.

The follow on purchase will be a 100 foot cat 5 cable so I can test mount it and get home video's.

If this hardware looks good I can always use to to see who is out side, and to keep an eye on my parked cars.

Arranged the application of my trailer skirt (thanks goes to Cedar for the idea). A standard skirt, including hardware, would have cost just shy of $1500. I paid $90 for the material and $10 for some strong tape and with an hour or two of work it was done. Less sightly than it would be with hardware, but for the price I'm willing to live with that and the difference in heating is incredible. We've had an unusually cold night and I actually ended up turning my heat down below the usual because I was too warm. And the floor isn't cold on bare feet. Sweet.

Made cold frames of left over material around house/yard. (still need to plant them)
Put in 100 channel cats into aquaponics tank
Placed order for firewood, picking up vs delivery saved 200 bucks.
Installed HD Antenna myself and got 4 new channels.
Paid off 1st debt and now on to # 2
Downloaded bunch of free kindle books recommended on here.

Refilled some holes in my pantry and picked up two extra cases of canned goods plus everything needed for the turkey day fixin's when I did my monthly grocery shopping this morning.

Dehydrated some fresh herbs from the garden.

And best of all, a building in town is being taken down, and I was given 5 full length glass doors plus the window/door screens out of it, all in perfect condition. I'm one leap closer to having enough material to complete the green house...at no cost to me!

I took off Thursday and Friday from work.

1) Got the car worked on. That burned about 4 hours.
2) Bought an M&P15 OR. Read the directions and field stripped it. Pretty easy!!
3) Went to the gun range today to see if my lock-tight job on the scope did any good. Shot really well from the bench at 25 yards, but could not hit squat standing or sitting (no rest). The wind was blowing pretty good, but the fact is that I just plain suck and need training. I even had a USGI sling to help steady me. Appleseed 2013 here I come.
4) I got a storage place for my guns (wife's wish). I broke down any gun I could and separated the parts. This way, if the guns get stolen, they will not be useful without work and parts.
5) I finally recorded the serial number of all my guns in one place.

Unfortunately, I lost a magazine either at the gun range or Lowes. The clip separated from the magazine holder and it dropped off somewhere. Not in my house, not in the car. Damn! Cheap ass magazine holder. Suggestions for a decent one for my belt? 9 mm, single stacked (Kahr, PM9).

Finally made my monthly shopping trip to WM and Dollar General. Almost everything I bought had gone up 25-30% since last month. Bought 2 more 550 count 22 lr boxes for $1 more a box than last month. Bought more LTS stuff since it is rising this fast. This is getting scary.

Finally found where my ducks were laying sneaky ladies they found a path(duck path) through our firewood stacks i only found it due to the random half foot of snow that fell over night, have a set date to view our possible new home for myself DH sister and her DH and my mother and father! Got the ball rolling on a local preparedness group and even tho i was really shy to give it a shot so far i have gotten pretty positive responses! Talked with my mother-inlaw about helping her organize all of her food trying to turn her food "hoarding" into prepping so far so good..

Starting putting shredded leaves around fruit trees, beds, etc. Ordered a case of 5.56 yesturday. Moved all the beehives back home for winter.

Bought a Ruger 10/22 Take Down. Bought the Lifesaver 1000 Water Filter. I have a lot more prepping to do but I can't tell you how good it felt just to cross these two things off the list. I can defend my home and neighbors if the SHTF (i hope I never have to and only use the rifle at the range) and I cam filter lots of dirty, green water and never have to look at my kids and tell them that they have to wait for a rescue truck to bring clean water into town if the SHTF.

We got really lucky that Sandy didn't come to Northern NJ. If it had the situation here would be bad. Really bad. Thanks to Jack for setting me on the path.
