Finished up main garden chicken wire. My girls weren't happy about that.  ::)
I had to coax them out of the garden with cracked corn.

Planted 7 pounds of taters, kennebec and red.
Planted 2 pounds of onion sets, white and red.

I got Lasik surgery.   I posted another thread about it.   Very cool to wake up and night and see clearly without fumbling for my glasses.

I'm not at all squeamish, but eye surgery is the one type I absolutely positively cannot stand to watch.

Having said that, I have heard so many people say they are thrilled with the results they got.

Me, neither.  I can do stuff to other people's eyes (something about having a task to perform makes it not so creepy), but don't touch mine and don't make me watch someone else.  Big reason why I don't do contacts and would be a disaster during Lasik.

Relax, they just shoot you in the eye with a laser that says DON'T DO IT on the side of the device. While I had a little discomfort, the fact that it saved my vision made it easier to take.

I'm finding with age I have less hang ups and am generally less squeamish.

I purposely waited to google and youtube the procedure AFTER I had it done.    Sort of like not wanting to know what is on my plate at Dim Sum until after I eat it.   You just dont want to know some things.

Every Doctor I saw for 2 years ,and there were many, wanted me to bend over...then I thought that they might not like that and the following action too much either. This was for other problems than my eyes...it would be creepy if the eye Dr asked....

Ground temp was only up to 52, so no corn got planted today.

Did some misc stuff today, and decided to put up the garage sale canning jar acquisition.
Had to rearrange another self to get them up and out of the oddball boxes. Then noticed they are getting out of hand, tipsy, some stacked 3 high.
I have very few original boxes for them, except the new ones that are unopened.
So in planning out the shelving for my future storehouse room, getting a general height and width of shelving so buckets, boxes, jars and cases will fit without much wasted space, I came up with a jar solution.
Just build wooden boxes for the jars.  ;D

So I have this huge stack of drawer side material that's been around for some time.
For pints, I came up with a box height of 5-1/2, ID length of 14-1/2, and ID width of 10-5/8.
That will hold a dozen pints. Two of those will stack on my future shelves.
When we shuffle jars to the house, just grab a box. When they are filled, shuffle them back out to the future storehouse room.

Worked on my axe smithing skills. Made a nice tomahawk that will bring some profit once I finish it and put it for sale.

Good luck Carl!

I've been practicing my forging again, making more stuff for sale.
Two family members went to gun lincense testing two days ago. One passed, one has to repeat the practical exam yet. Will have two more armed family members around, fine.

Made 4 more canning jar wooden boxes.

Wife picked some asparagus. It's coming on.
Strawberries are perking up. Moles are cruising in there, but haven't yanked any down yet.  >:(
Reseeded flats with tomatoes are coming up.

Vacuum packed some Pectin into pint jars that we bought in bulk at the Amish store the other day. 5# pectin was 12.95
Much better buy than those small packages.

Can you post pictures of the canning jar crates you made?
That seems like a great idea for keeping things tidy and organised long term. Much more convnenient than simply stacking jars loose on shelves or putting up with cardboard boxes.

Lucky you get fresh asparagus. That's one thing I miss from growing up in the country, fresh food..

Following up on Jack's advice to John in WV, I planted a bunch of butternut squash this morning.  Even in my sixth year of gardening, I'm still a brown-thumbed beginner.  A recommendation for something easy is advice I'll take any day!

Taking a short break from finishing up our chicken coop. Bought a huge bucket of drill bits and another with hex keys at the scrapyard...plus a Kawasaki Mule UTV. Picked up another two man crosscut saw at a flea market, could have bought a literal ton of hand tools.

Spent the last couple hours fitting a new handle to an old axe head, and putting more vinegar on a 2 man crosscut I picked up yesterday. Also put some new parts on a chainsaw that I need to sell.

Bought 8 more bags of sugar from Aldi's today. Transferred it to gallon jars.

Bought 8 bags last week. 0.89 for a 4lb bag.

Oops I have box pics to post.

Went on an awesome hike with my wife and dog. We're wanting to hike more and start camping so this was a great first step in that direction.

Jar boxes, made from scrap. Nothing fancy, just basic. Made a jig and cut out some hand holes.

Cool! That looks like something I can do, especially after working for a cabinetmaker all this winter.

Went on an awesome hike with my wife and dog. We're wanting to hike more and start camping so this was a great first step in that direction.

Lucky, that sounds nice.

I can't wait until it gets warm enough here, so I can start camping again with my girl friend. Good times. I need more not alone time in my life.

That's some groovy work. I haven't had much time in my shop of late... :'( Busy with baby.

I'd consider painting before cutting like Tom Sachs for a distinctive look...

Today I made soap for the summer... Bergamot as requested by the Mrs. I would have preferred sandalwood but...

Also working a new design for my cribbage boards. Graph paper must be sacrificed.

Did some minor guerrilla gardening with some butternut squash seeds I had left over.  We'll see if they take.
