Here is a link to the FREE SHIPPING ammo that is today only, Note I gain nothing from this but for helping others :

Note that this is a TODAY ONLY special with FREE SHIPPING for over $25 total sale and a sale price also. I think anyone can get on the email list from the HELP ME tab near the top, though I am not sure as I have used them happily for many years. The sale is for MAGTECH AMMO ,I have used it before also and the 9MM is NATO spec.

Spent the weekend at a men's retreat hosted by my church.  Wasn't really "prepping" in the material sense, but without of wives and girlfriends around it was a needed opportunity for the men to talk openly about things on their heart.  We talked radios, cars, boats, guns, guitars and life. We also went shooting clays from a 4000 foot mountain ridge, which was awesome...

Great price on the water.  ;)

We've got plastic tubs we keep our spaghetti in. Around here it's $1.00 a package most places.

Not much actual prepping here the last few days. Just dealing with the new house roof.

I think we have another son on board wanting to do some preparing, starting a storehouse

I usually get a pasta brand made in Mexico for $1.15/2lb. bag. Store had Skinner for $0.66/12oz. wife wanted angel hair pasta and the Mexican brand didn't have it so...... I just keep in on a shelf since my storage is inside the house. Never had an ant or mouse problem and only once bugs in flour.

Probably dig taters today if it stays cool.
Pick up more walnuts for selling. I use that money for buying feed.

This is why you need to grab a deal when you spot one and knowledge of typical product price is important.

So going to show my ignorance here ... but is there a valid reason to buy commercially packaged long term storage salt? (Note: the question isn't why do you need to buy salt for your preps, I get that.)

Last I understood, salt doesn't go bad, doesn't oxidize. So other than turning back into a solid block if it gets moisture absorbed (in which case it can be easily ground up again), it should be time-stable.  In fact, it has many uses as a food preservative. It would seem you could by any standard salt, throw it in a jar/can/mylar/etc. to ward off moisture, and be done with it. I've seen places selling canned salt, but I just don't get it? Other than the nice convenience of having it canned, what are you buying?

What am I missing?

1-It's already sealed, packaged. Just shelf it.
2-At $3.99 per 5-1/2 pound can, how can you justify sealing it yourself?

Now that they are playing with prices, and I won't buy at the current $16.30, I'll be looking into storing/packaging it myself, most likely in glass containers.

I'm currently stocked on salt now with the addition of this last order.

Ok thanks! I was just honestly wondering if I missed the boat on something here and there were other concerns with it going bad over time that I wasn't aware of.  I always learn a lot here, so it would not have surprised me! :)

Today I did, or made contacts for, a bunch of really cool stuff to benefit many.... I am pretty excited about these three projects.  Even if I can't work on my own projects, this will be sweet for the community.

And I started studying for my General.

Cleaned the old pop gun for winter. Winchester SX3. Fun to shoot, not to clean. Anyhow, it got put away with a rubdown of bore butter so (hopefully) no rust come spring when I take it out again.

Called in my order for a Savage MK II BRJ so hopefully it comes in soon.
