A few random MARIGOLD plants in the garden area may help with the bug problem...

For sure, I have flowers, including marigolds, and greens at both ends of each bed, and I dont have a bug problem in general, but I do have something that specifically comes out and eats bean plants. Timing may be helpful for the beans, i am working on it, it seems so far that maybe I need to plant them later after the beatles witht he red strip are done breeding.  Best guess so far.  The beans that are alive were panted late, so late, I dont have any green beans yet !

And, I spoke too soon about the bucks getting along, I have a mountain lion problem and when I went to lock them up in the stall together, that is when old guy wasnt having it ! Lots of drama and locking up when they were practically asleep ( and much later than was safe) (Hopefully I will come up with a system for  my housesitter, as I am actually going on vacation labor day, for 2.5 weeks.  We are going to drive to grand canyon, then spend a couple days at 2 of the desert southwest parks, then do a very long drive all day to Grand teton park or close, see yellow stone for a couple days, visit friends and family in Montana, another too long all day drive to Portland for a quick overnight and on to Oregon family and friends and down to coast to home, a very large quick circle in the western states)

Steamed 10 quarts of elderberry's  ;D. Yessir, got a good supply.

Out of that 10, we canned 6 along with 1 quart of wild plum juice.

We put 4 quarts in the frig for jelly making.

All potatoes are dug up, and some seperated out for seed for next spring, and use first ones (damaged or teeny) also set aside to used first.

I have to drag new buck into the shelter with old guy.  Old guy only rammed him once though, which is an improvement.  But, if this keeps up, I will need to make up a different arrangement for when I am away,  I cannot imagine my young housesitter grabbing a buck, who has just peed on his face for her enjoyment, by the collar, while he rubs on her, into the shelter while not letting the other one out

One of my best old milkers was in heat and was bred today, so not all bad. 5 months. 5 months to kidding, and then a couple weeks until I can steal enough for tea, then 2 more weeks or so and I wont have to buy milk.....

Transferred honey out of a bucket, into quart jars.
Ended up with 8-1/2 quarts for the storeroom.
Had to dig/scrap it out, add to jars that I had in a pot full of water on the stove, and re liquefy as it had set.
All these buckets of honey have been filled since 1999

Never had any around that long but I reckon if it hasn't dried out past crystalising (doesn't do that apparently) it's always good to go.

This bucket was crystallized pretty good is several spots. Had to do some chopping.....

I read somewhere that they found some stored honey in one of the roman tombs and it was good. So they did a taste test??? Lol

Harvested some plums, also dug out horseradish root and made oldschool gravy with it. Roseradish gravy is likely centuries old in my country, still popular in many families, though mine never made it. I'm glad I was able to learn how it's done. Making various gravies and sauces is a good skill for times when you live off meat cans....

Next week we should be signing contracts that will finally make the new house ours. Hope to move in soon, because...winter is coming.

Wife steamed the last of the elderberrys, berrys that belong to a friend. Needed to get them out of the freezer, as we have meat coming.

Broke open all the dried red and green okra pods and got the seed out, giving them a final drying before storing.
Got a few more peppers picked from the garden. It's about over.
Picked the last of the corbaci peppers and hung those up to dry.

Corbaci pepper? Looks like want a lady on another forum called Italian frying peppers. Never did tell another name for them. The only peppers similar I've seen around here were called Finger Peppers and too expensive to buy, $8.00/lb.

Yes that's them. Bought the seed from Heirloom Solutions.
Sweet pepper, fairly tasty. Pick em green off the plant and munch away.

Bought butter at Aldi's today. $3.19#  ???
This particular Aldi was out of chisels.....
Sugar was $1.88 4#
