Scoured Amazon. Found nothing. Closest was a Fiskars splitting axe. I think I own 5 axes and 5 replacement handles already. There was a sale at Fleet Farm and I got set for life. Good deal on a cheapo Husqvarna chainsaw too but do I need a backup chainsaw...

Lots of deals on flashlights if you're in the market for a new one.

I also scoured Amazon. Found nothing in Grocery or Kitchen that fit into our storage needs.  :(

I usually find something. From a blender to a carpet cleaner there's almost always an aha. This year fell flat. Even my wife texted me that she's not finding a deal. I have the disease my grandfather had of always finding something in the hardware store but this year... I don't know. Maybe I've changed or maybe it was a bad year for people like me. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

Made ten boxes for quart mason jars from scrap 1/2" sheeting. They hold a dozen each, like the original cardboard boxes.
I can't see paying $14.00 for those plastic containers you can buy for jars now.

Amazon is doing free shipping with no minimum purchase temporarily. Just FYI. At least they were yesterday.

Bought supplies, which about 1/2 went into the storeroom, mostly replacement stuff.

Took advantage of the sales on turkey just before Thanksgiving and bought 2 turkey breast for 37 cents a lb. Got them in freezer and will be canning them after the holidays. Also oven canned 15 lbs of flour and put up 25 lbs of rice in mylar with 02 aborbers in my plastic buckets. Now it's time to get things ready for Christmas. Lots to do.

We can more and more different items each year, and buy less canned goods.
But when do need commercially canned good, we hit Aldi's and buy by the case.
Usually 60-70-80 cents per can.

Today I transferred items from the storeroom to the pantry in the house, trying to keep it stocked.

Got another load of composted (i.e. from the back of the pile) horse manure from the stables down the road.  Started dragging brush off the brush pile to stack up in a low spot in the yard then started covering it with manure.  Today hubby called a local tree guy who is very happy to drop wood chips anytime we want them.  So in the next few days we will start covering that pile with chips....then go get more manure and keep the layers going.  Should be an amazing growing bed in a few years.....and an okay one this year.  All of this is/was free :)

Brought home buckets of honey, wheat, corn and beans to store, break down, grind some flour, etc.

I've got several pepper and onion plants inside for the winter. Sort of just surviving. Don't know if I should add a fertilizer. They are in cloth grow bags in a Wisconsin southern facing window.
