Sounds like you are staying busy.

Today, I'm doing odds and ends in the storeroom, and checking out some 20 year old wheat.

Fixed the reloading press, installed a new, brighter fiber-optic front sight on my Saiga 12, somewhat improved my new workshop. Got in touch with local chimney-guy who should be able to help me turning one of my basement rooms into a handy little forge shop, which I'll use before I can fix the 19th century forge in one of the old farm buildings back on the property. Bought a bunch of old tools in a pawn shop, some files, shoemaker's hammer and a jointer plane (in excellent condition, which is not very common, most old planes are badly beaten). Continued working on the flintlock stock. Using just handtools and old techniques (smoking the parts over a candle to inlet them and such).

Replaced a few items in the storeroom.
Picked up an extra 50# bag of Trumps all purpose flour. We use it to cut our whole wheat that we grind.
Continued garden prepping. Got a line on some pigling's, will pick up a couple next week.

My flintlock build by handtools is alsmost finished (just staining the wood now).
Working on my 15th century gambeson, I practiced handsewing more than I ever wished. Not like I need it much, I think that adfter over 20 years of reenactment, my stitching skills are good enough. Still about 2,5m of sewing left, all through 6 layers of thick linen fabric and a layer fo woolen felt.
Making several pairs of 18th century canadian shoes, so lots of leatherwork practice.
Had a chimney guy come over and approved my plan to turn one of the basemnt rooms into a forge shop, while the chuimney would still get the safety stamp for insurance. Will start working on iut next week and finally have a forge again.

I really quite busy and tired, as you can tell from my typos above. The house projects are coming together very slowly, but we'll get there. Right now I'm really happy that I can make the forge shop in the back house and don't have to fix the old building with the antique forge at once. Being sure about the forge shop also allows me to start equipping the other rooms as woodshop and such (till now I wasn't sure where does the forge shop end up, in case I had to add another chimney or so). By now I work in very improvised conditions, so I'm glad I'll have proper benches built and my tools somewhat organized. With proper workshops, I'll be able to make stuff for the house easier and faster, but also earn money for materials and works that I can't do by myself (though I hope to learn as much as possible).

Tilled and planted two 25' rows of turnips (piggie food)
Planted two 25' rows of red onions
Tilled and prepared a row for transplanting elderberry bushes into. Yes, moving them into the garden area. Cutting the produce area down, and will be adding elderberry sprouts as soon as they develop some roots.

Got some of the elderberry's dug up by the compost pile and out of the garden fence, moved into the prepared garden area. About a 25' row, didn't measure it. If they take, I'll get some steel posts and a wire strung up to tie them to too keep them shipshape. (hopefully  ::))

Still have lots more to move.

Hmm, wonder if those will grow here

Checking

Probably not. Zone 9a or 9b. Plants hardy from zone 4 to 8. Might get a little too warm here.

Well sort of close a really good place. Checking around I found that there is a variety native to most areas of TX and that I can get it from that nursery. They probably won't have it in stock but they will get most anything you ask for. I've ordered there before several times. Very knowledgeable folks.

I'll get another fig tree from them also. Found the current one at HD or L years ago. Much more suitable varieties from the nursery.

Some of ours are 8' but we're beginning to trim em down some. Some stems naturally die off. They pull over fairly easy, but are brittle some have to be careful.
They begin to produce at 2 years, and the third year they do better, continuing to bush out.

.
Ours haven’t had a chance to get tall; the deer prune them in the winter.   >:(
