Seeking Kansas City area TSP community members, time-sensitive
« Reply #8070 on: May 26, 2018, 07:43:18 AM »
Hello folks,

I am a long-time listener in Lawrence KS. I wasn't around for the Jetta days, but was definitely here for the "another day another dollar" days. Have been busily working on my resilient life and homestead since 2011.

I throw an annual community event which is coming up this coming Saturday, June 2. The event features stringband music, barn dancing, an epic potluck dinner, and sustainability-related workshops and a keynote speaker. This year's speaker is Marcin Jakubowski, amazing open-source design proponent, whom Jack has interviewed twice. Marcin is also hosting a 3D printing workshop in the morning, and registration is open for anyone who would like to build their own open-source machine under his supervision.

Is this the best way to get in touch with TSPers in my area? If not, I would appreciate other suggestions. I would love to meet anyone in the KC/eastern KS area. Thanks!

Howdy,
Have been a long time listener. Have not posted in awhile. My life was turned upside down after divorce from wife of 20 years (the election was the powerkeg but that's for another day), had to sell homestead so renting now. Would like to eventually get another place but housing/land is sky high here in central Texas.

Welcome back and don't let the past anchor your future....things will work out for you in ways that you can't imagine. Stay the course and hold to your principles as you improve your skills as the real key to survival is not material,it is from within.

Hello!!

Long time listener to the show, new to the MSB, and the forum! Hope to learn a lot from you guys, and maybe even contribute where I can.

I'm a Mobile DJ in North Carolina (as the name suggests). Married to a wonderful woman who supports my preparedness, even though she isn't always interested... but i'm wearing her down :)

Thanks for the add!!

Hello, from Southwest Washington State. I only discovered  TSP about two years ago and I have been all in since. However, I am not new to the prepping/self-reliance/survival community. I grew-up in the foot hill of the Cascade Mts. of Oregon and was taught from young age to work with what you got and always go into the world prepared. In 2002, I joined the Army after being dissatisfied with my first career as Maintenance Mechanic and I am still serving today. It wasn't until 2008 during the "the crash" that I really started prepping and search out all the online content that I could consume. Unfortunately, a lot of what I consumed was counter to what I was taught which led to wasted time and money.  So over the last ten years I have gone from Doomsday/tin hat prepper back to more inline with what Jack preaches. Another limiting factor has been my serves in the Army, having to move ever 3 or so years makes it really hard to be self-reliance hence, my handle Nomad-76. My family and I have lived in South Korea, Texas, Washington, Nevada, and back in Washington. That doesn't include all my deployments and overseas training exercises. Don't get me wrong, I only mentioned this so guys can understand my perspective on things. With that said, in 2016 my family and I moved back to Washington and bought a wonderful home on 5 acres. Since then we have been working on developing it into a homestead, which is no easy task. In closing, I am looking to learning from you all and if you're interested you can check out my small YouTube channel by searching Nomad-76.

Thanks for your service Nomad. Yeah moving around can complicate things but can be handled. Good for you to find a homestead place and good luck with it.

Welcome!  Go to “home” and scroll to the area you are interested in.  Select that area and you’ll see a “new topic” button.  I think that will get you started.
