New guy here! Live in north central Illinois. Married with two young girls. We live on around a 1/2 acre with an old farm house. Backyard backs up to 410acres of monocrops. We still live in village limits but we are doing our best to make something of it before we move to some real land. Currently we have a 30x20 garden, small flock of egg layers, and just getting started with meat rabbits. Got turned onto TSP by John over at SOE. Heard him talking about it in several of his live videos. Now I binge listen while at work as a Truck Upfitter (we install any and all truck accessories like plows, truck bodies, electrical equipment, etc.)

Hello. I've been listening to Jack for over ten years now but have not engaged much with the community because my job requires me to travel and most of the year I live outside of the US. Due to COVID however, I find myself spending an extended period of time on a remote property near Harrison, AR. I'd be interested in connecting with anyone in the Harrison/Branson area. I'm also hoping to find someone who might be interested in an arrangement to use the land for gardening and/or hunting in exchange for some help with caring for fruit trees and perennials when I'm not in town. Looking forward to engaging more and getting to know folks!

Welcome Gator. I'm not close, but traveled through Harrison a lot when I was trucking. Traveling 7 hwy south of there was a challenge.
Nice scenery and lots of hills in your area.
Excellent backwoods hideaway area there.

Hello, all. My name is Andy Ye. I am looking to find like-minded people to build my survival network. It would be helpful to for someone that is in the San Francisco Bay Area that can point me to a survival public event so I can share and connect with a community that is within an hour to two hour drive.

I hope to become a more valuable contributor in the marketplace of survivalists so I can build a survival network for my nuclear family.

Please search for my profile and read if you and I can share. I will then choose if you and I are like-minded and can attend future survivalists events in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Thank you for listening.

STWood - Thanks for the welcome. Gorgeous country indeed! I can't imagine driving a truck all over these steep curvy roads though.

Hi, I'm Joe. I've been listening to TSP on and off for almost half a decade (because that sounds more impressive than 5 years :p). I'm mostly a computer guy (holding a CompTIA A+ and TestOut's PC Pro, Network Pro, Security Pro, and Client Pro certifications) but I have other skills as well. I'm a little bit of a writer, I am competent in mig welding, I hold my states basic electrical license, I'm a licensed unarmed guard, ran my own company as a sub-contractor doing facility maintenance, and most recently a contract driver for a local food delivery service that isn't Uber Eats, Grub Hub, or Door Dash. I also have a podcast of my own I just started.

Introduction
« Reply #8302 on: August 22, 2020, 10:58:17 AM »
Hi, all. I thought I would introduce (or reintroduce as it may be) myself. I have listened to Jack very close to the beginning. I remember the "in the truck" episodes. Back then it was more of a distraction from a stressful career. I've have a casual interest in prepping for bugging in but the recent events have given me a sense of urgency I have not felt before. Also, I find the tone of Jack's message a bit different too. I decided to check out the forum and read up for more advise on priorities and bugging OUT if necessary. I found I had already registered in 2013 so I must have done some poking around back then. I feel it's time to take serious ACTION.

My  hubby, who is Mr. Dependable, steady and even keeled agrees. We are recently retired (somewhat early) and have a lot of flexibility. Our main home is in Dallas/Ft Worth but we have a lake house on a private lake in east Texas. We are preparing to sell our home in DFW and make east Texas our main bug in location.

We are pretty good on food preps (that is my area and I enjoy it) and have a small garden with a few chickens and a handful of quail. I am very interested in the most efficient way of providing meat (protein) for our small family as we eat very low carb. I have educated myself quite a bit throughout the years on herbal remedies and supplements, especially those I can produce myself. I am also the weird lady out in the woods picking grape leaves and foraging for wild foods. I purchased a canner and started learning several months ago.

We made a prioritized wish list of needs this morning. We also began a list of what we consider our survival strengths and weaknesses and will continue to evaluate. I very much appreciate all the knowledge in this group and will strive to become more educated so I can contribute to this community.

Glad you're here, ragdoll. There is a ton of information on various types of food storage and preservation. Many of us are big into canning, dehydrating, etc., for storing the summer's harvest for the coming winter months as well as for long-term storage. Don't hesitate to revive an old thread if you come across an interesting one and want to ask about something there...

welcome to the group AxxNox

The verification process consist of reading tea leaves, looking at the farmers almanac, etc.

Also checking posts for spam links, and making sure your links are GMO free.  (ok, all a joke here, mostly ;) )

Thanks for admitting me to the forum.
My name is Kevin.  I'm married with kids living in central Tokyo since 2018.  Before that we were in VA 2014 - 2018, and prior to that in Japan 2002 - 2014.  I first started listening to Jack when he was still in the car - some time in 2008.  Sometimes I've listened to the show more than others, but I can't seem to get away from the guy.
I served in the U.S. Army 1993 - 2007, to include the unpleasantness in the Balkans / AF / IZ and other garden spots...
Post Army I do some freelance DoD contracting.  I also got my Master of Acupuncture on the GI Bill, and a license to practice.  That license is worth as much as used Charmin here, so I treat friends and family for free.  I like to make plant medicine, cook from my stores, fish, and make stuff some people think is useless, but I like just fine.  When we go back stateside I hope to tighten up the homestead, plant the orchard and start a private acupuncture practice for veterans at  steep discount...
Thanks again,
Kevin
