Hello, fellow TSP listeners. My name is Jason, and I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have 3 daughters (20, 10, 7 years old) and a step-daughter that is five years old. Add a wife and a female black Lab... and my house is in short supply of testosterone.
3 months ago, I stumbled upon TSP by chance: While browsing in the Android app market (Google Play,) TSP App came across as a recommendation based upon other apps that I had installed. I installed the app, and listed to an episode. Wow! I couldn't believe that I had found a podcast with a message(s) that really interested me. Thank you, Jack for your effective communication and teaching abilities.
I have been mentally prepping for a little over a year; however, I have only just begun to actually start to physically prep in my life (food storage, finances, planning, weapons, etc.) Thank you to all of you for giving me the motivation - and opening my eyes to the real need to have more of a survivalist lifestyle.
I am new to the Tulsa area - born and raised in the [not-so] great state of California. I have been a business owner for the majority of my adult life. I started a company in the cable and satellite TV industry at the age of 22 - with $400 in my pocket and a $400 loan from my uncle. After growing that business (completely self funded from my original $400 in start-up capital)- I lost everything in 2008 (to a bad divorce and a lot of bad life choices.) I am currently in between careers, but have been doing some freelance web application development in Ruby on Rails - And really enjoying that.
I currently spend most of my weekdays building things and learning new mechanical and useful building skills. I am learning how to weld right now (teaching myself from YouTube in my garage) Tomorrow I am starting the build of a solar [aluminum can] furnace; and, I am collecting the parts for a wood gasifier - which I will fabricate from scratch to power a generator.
I'd love to meet like-minded people in the Tulsa area. There are a few local 'prepper' meetups here, but they are always on the weekends. I only have my daughters with me on weekends; and giving up any time with them is not an option. If this post reaches any Tulsa area readers - I am available weekdays and would love to meet.
Well, this is getting a little long... I like to write. Thanks again for the show, the community and the great podcasts. I listen to about 4 episodes a day, so I'll be caught up pretty soon!
