Hi All, I am from Melbourne, Australia. I am retired and am interested in prepping but have not started in any way, just accumulating knowledge.
I have enjoyed bushwalking, camping and fishing for many years.

Good day, Digout!  Spent a month in Australia back in high school.   :o  Holy crap, nearly 25 years ago...  Welcome aboard, mate!

The latest one has been posting earplug spam on dozens of other forums. 8)

I'm still waiting for fish feed making machine spam from a particular new member.  I do rather enjoy the hunt. ;D

Yes. I was mod on a couple of forums. I agree the hunt was fun.
And when you stated the reason for the ban (V-bulletin) that they could read, making up that statement was fun....something like..........die $#@$ spammer die.  ;D

Okay, this is the Intro Thread and I don't want to sound vicious...

Hello, new members!  Welcome to The Survival Podcast Forum.  Unless you're a spammer.

Currently, about half of the new members who register here are spammers.  (That doesn't count all the others who were weeded out by automated techniques before they could register!)

We do check out newly-registered members manually, using several methods which I won't list here for obvious reasons.  We've been doing this for a long time and we usually get it right, but if you're not a spammer and you got banned anyway, I do apologize.  When you try to log in, you'll see an e-mail address that you can contact, and we'll try to fix our error.

Tor users: We try really hard not to ban Tor exit node IP addresses, even if they're being heavily abused by spammers (which is usually the case!).  If you run into a problem using Tor here, let us know.

Hello All,

Figured I should post an introduction as I'm sure I'll be on here asking questions in the future. First off, my name is Josh and I'm based out of Cleveland Ohio. I actually found TSP through a reference on another homesteading podcast and I'm certainly glad I decided to give it a shot. Jack certainly provides his opinion on a wide range of topics but never seems to do it in an overbearing fashion, the pace and content of his shows is always interesting, and he seems truly committed to providing content and benefits for those who support the show.

I've already learned a great deal in the short time I've been listening and can't wait to start to practice some of the skills, especially around the garden, as soon a weather permits. I've always enjoyed the outdoors (Hunting, Fishing, etc.) but my wife really got me interested in working in the garden last summer, and while I absolutely loved it, I found that it requires a fair bit more planning and education than I had anticipated. Looking forward to putting those and other lessons to good use as time goes on.

Thanks for reading and I'm looking forward to getting other members of this forum as well!

Best Regards,
Josh

As a Marine I focus on security more heavily than other area, not that those other areas are ignored. We have an arsenal that supports long range (1000yrd+) hunting and security. And yes I'm trained and capable and experienced to 1400yrds. We also have medium range covered with Ar style weapons (not 5.56) in larger than normal caliber. For close we have semi auto 12g, 22lr and several pistols from 9mm to 5.7mm We have a large ammo stock and are working on reloading for all. Everything has optics for its particular duty. We are closing on our land in 2 weeks and are moving off-grid to the rocky Texas Hill Country. We are experienced in gardening and raise rabbits, chickens and goats. The area we are moving to is rick in wild Axis and white-tail. There are several natural springs close as well. My family is trained on bugging out and we all have a kit ready to go.

Hey everybody! Long time listener, first time poster. I'm a homesteading father of two kids (7-8 yo).

My reason for joining the forums is because I'm having a hard time finding some of Jack's podcast info and was hoping it might have spawned a discussion. Specifically, I'm trying to set up a chore allowance/penalty list akin to what I've heard Jack used, with matching for savings. I can't seem to remember which podcast/interview it was and have found little detail from my searches.  Thanks for any help!

Hello I’m James

I live in Clio MI (near flint).  Don’t worry we have a well.

I found Jack on ITunes.  I was a Boy-scout so I’ve kind of been into this my whole life.

After Boy-scouts I joined the marines.  Similar uniforms.

4 years as 7051 crash fire rescue.  I was crazy enough to chase burning airplanes in Okinawa (Futenma) and Yuma.  I got a lot of qualifications. Fire fighter I/II, hazmat, EMT, confined spaces, ETC.  Made Corporal and even was a squad leader.  Hit my EAS 3-3-01, moved to MI, and couldn’t get a job as a fire fighter.

Started working as a mechanic. And surprise 9-11 FYI I was doing an oil change when I found out,  shook all day terrified I was going back, took my third degree in freemasonry that night. Totally scared out of my mind that I was going to be called back to war. So I only remember flashes of what should have been one of the biggest ceremonies of my life.

Never got called back to the military.  Thank God.

Met my wife. Increased my prepping. Then came the 2003 blackout.  Suddenly I wasn’t so crazy.
We enjoyed the blackout, learned a few weaknesses in our plans and adjusted accordingly.  Had 3 kids and continue to prep and enjoy life.

Now I drive a Fuel truck and take care of my family.

If you live in MI please reach out especially if you are in the flint area. [e-mail deleted by moderator, see below]  we also spent 5 years in the UP (Marquette and Iron Mountain)
